Why do they tell you not to tease NFL across 0, and does that apply for basketball as well? IS they a database of closing lines in nfl that you could look up if teasing across 0 was losing proposition? And another thing, why only 4 points for basketball teasers?

I am not John, but teasing across 0 in the NFL is a no-no because spreads of -0.5 do not exist, so when you go from -1 to +1, you are being charged for 2 full points when it is really essentially a 1-point move. Another reason is because ties almost never happen in NFL and can't possibly happen in payoffs, making the half-points close to 0 meaningless. As for basketball, that should never be teased anyway, it is burning money.
