'Serious' Poker Players kind of sicken me...

I like poker. But mainly just as a hobby. I grew up playing with my friends mostly. As a serious means of income, I don't get it. Anyway, when I go to Vegas, it is to gamble on sports. But occasionally I will sit down and play some 2-5 NL, most recently the other night at Mandalay Bay.

I had just sat down with $600 in chips, limp in to a small raise with pocket 6's. Flop is 345, I have top pair and the best open ended draw on board, rainbow flop as well. Guy absurdly overbets the pot, I believe he bet 85 into a 40 pot, I call it of course, turn is a 2 and he goes all in, I call, case closed, he never flips his cards so I can't really begin to tell you what he had, but it was pretty dumb that he didn't since a 6 would have split us but if he mucks I'm not sure if he gets to split.

Anyway, guy broke loose on a 3 minute mike matusow type speech, talking about how my play was so bad and I should have known he had a monster, etc etc...

Another question I have is why does every asian think they are amazing at poker? I'm no pro, but this guy obviously isn't very good but apparently this is his living.

I just dislike seeing them in casinos where ever I go. They LOVE to gamble.

Both of you are idiots. You dislike asian gamblerspiridiot because they gamble? That is the EXACT reason i play poker. I love tables with asians cause they scream and yell and have fun and gamble. I hate the 2+2 nerd that talks about hand ranges, and +EV and all that 3bet/4bet lingo and try to act all cool and smart trying to educate players. Really fking stupid.

Next time a guy gets up and starts yelling and screaming, just apoligize, announce you are really new, and you really don't know what you are doing. Try to look super honest. Order a bud. Act like a stupid tourist. It boggles my mind why people drive away bad players, or not do whatever they can to keep them there. When I see a bad player get up and leave, i will offer him a beer, or convince him "luck will come back in your favor" and say other gambler falacy crap like "you are due soon". Make sure when you say it you are being genuine and not sarcastic.

THAT is how you MAKE MONEY. Wake up and stop complaining. If you want to win at poker table selection is #1 and always pacify the fish.

whatever, the guy is a douche... u called w poket 6's preflop, standard, u can hit a 6 and win everything... u flopped openended w a over pair and called, again, standard... the shove on the turn was the retarded move... they guy AA or a overpair, (if he really did have a monster, he might have just been trying to save face w his 4,5 suited, maybe the turn gave him a flush draw as well)... anyway, I would have told him he was a dumbfuk and if he does this for a "living", maybe he should try investing his trust fund in the stock market instead.

The only thing sillier than his flop overbet was your call. You're behind to nearly every pair. Best you can hope for is for him to have AK.

Besides the point, table captains like that amuse me. If you just laugh at them or offer to tip them a chip it pisses them off even more and they go on tilt.

i have to disagree (and im not asian). i think asians are some of the best ppl in the world and def are the nicest. they have gentle souls. and yes they def love to gamble. i play baccarat 90% of the time when i go to the casino and i am almost always the only non-asian at the table. but i love it. its so much fun when we all have big bets on banker and everybodys screaming monkey and shit.

of course there are some bad apples in every race but its hard to find when it comes to asians. i dont have as much experience playing live poker with them so i cant comment on that issue.
