Pitcher Edwin Jackson agrees to terms with the Nationals - they will be his 6th team since start of 2008 (TB, DET, ARI, CHW, STL)
Good move or not?

I remember when he beat Randy Johnson in his first or second start with the dodgers, everyone proclaiming him the next Valenzuela, that was what 7 or 8 years ago now? Maybe more. But that was also the year johnson sucked. But the kid flamed out pretty hard and fast.

Not a bad signing for the Nasty Nats, but depends on how much they unloaded on him whether or not it's a bad move.

Still pretty solid, not a wild card contender though. Unless MLB releases new Playoff scenario soon with more teams.

1.zimmerman, 2.gio, 3.strasburg, 4.wong, 5.(ross, tom, john, or edwin)
i like wong rather than jackson coz i think wong will bounce back tis season. he pitch like shit last yr , has no control of his pitches wat so ever still 4.04 era & most hits r ground ball singles, means his sinker still very hard to hit plus nats got a pretty good def. infeid and tis season he's fully prepared. compare his stats with jackson both in AL east 2006-2008 period jackson nt as stable as wong. but signin edwin definitely adds more depth in nats rotation

Edwin Jackson is a disaster and he's why I hated the Rasmus trade for St. Louis.
I really think they hurt their long term prospects by trading a valuable commodity for Edwin Jackson (a mediocre starter), and two relievers.
A STL defender will say they won the World Series, but that wasn't because of this trade.
Meanwhile, there's a good chance Rasmus turns into a top flight outfielder.

Jackson didn't contribute much to the ring but the two relief pitchers they got sure did.

Jackson was the centerpiece of the deal from St. Louis's perspective, so I guess it accidentally worked out.

he was a rent-a-player. I didn't understand why you give up your best young player for a 2-3 month pitcher....but it worked out

He is a good pitcher, and good athlete. Can get out of bad situations without freaking out. That is an important quality for pitchers.

Rasmus was owed a roster bonus after the season or something, Larussa didnt like him, and the orginzation doesnt like his father... Rasmus wont be a star... maybe a decent player, to maybe the caliber of a JD Drew... unloading him was smart, whats hurting them now is loshe and westbrooks contracts
