A "red herring" is basically a fallacy where you bring up some irrelevant topic in order to divert attention from the original argument or discussion. JJ is getting more cryptic and interesting every day, unless he was just trying to talk about about some sort of pickled fish and champagne and just said red herring. .

Champagne and herring actually sounds kind of a gross pairing.
