If you have a player's card you can request one... Also (although probably not a huge problem in your case) win over a certain amount and you will get a W-2G...

Helps to have it if you've had wins in other places - you can prove the wins have been offset by losses.

A diary is more accurate? A diary sounds more like something my 12 year old niece would keep for love letters.

Well, ignoring that statement from casinos are often times wrong and, in some cases, can be manipulated, this is what the IRS wants... Obviously having records (such as these statements from casino or other receipts) that closely match would probably help show that "your diary" isn't quite as BSish as your niece's

You're right. The casino report on your play is typically very accurate but people can trick the system by giving the card to their friends. This makes is look like they played more than they actually did.

You can write off your gambling losses, but only up the the amount that you won. So, if you have $10,000 in signers, it might be helpful to have $10,000 worth of losses on paper from the casino.

So if the casino statements say you won $5,000 and your diary says you lost $5,000 - the diary wins?
