    Am I a cheap fuk?
So I go into my local supermarket and go to the deli. They have roast beef and pastrami marked for $1.099lb. So I said that is a fantastic price... I get a pound of each and go to check out. I am charged $10.99lb. I went to the customer service desk to get the price corrected and they call the deli manager. She brings the sign and when she did so she removed the decimal point so it is now reading $1_099lb. I told her that when she brought the sign over she removed the decimal point. So now they call the store manager. I showed the store manager the other sign that is still over there. Surely enough they both read 1.099lb. The manager looks at me and says "Do you really think roast beef and pastrami are $1.09 a pound. I said Nope but that is what your sign says. He told me that what I am doing is wrong but to take my $20 worth of meat and have a nice day. Making me feel like complete shit...

So now I get all the meat for $0. Should I feel bad because someone didnt do their job properly?

Edit: I don't even like cold cuts but my wife and kids do.

Their bad. I know some stores if you are charged the wrong price at the register, they give the items for free. But I think I probably would have asked the deli person if that was the right price before I purchased it. Otherwise, I would have thought that it was almost expired food they were trying to unload.

Interesting. I think I would have felt better about the manager validating the $1.09 price and charging me that than patronizing me and telling me to have a good day. Although, it truly depends whether it was "see ya the fukk later and have a nice day" or "sorry for the inconvenience and take this for your trouble, have a nice day" then that makes the difference.

Why did I spend so much time responding to this thread that will certainly sink to the depths of the SBR ocean posthaste?

If they advertise it at that price and cause you to waste your time ordering it and bringing it to the counter then they need to stand by their mistake. It's not your fault they fuked up the pricing on their lunch meat. The only mistake you made was not ordering 5Lbs of each lol

Certainly more reasonable that it is $1.09 than $10.99! That is fukking expensive! Where do you live?

At our stores, they print off a sticker with the weight and price. Did the price on the sticker have $10.99 per pound or $1.099 per pound? Either way nice score on the free deli meat. Manager should of thanked you for pointing out the mispriced signs, he was a prick for saying what he did.

I guess that I don't blame you if money is really tight and for most , it is.

But I don't blame him either for saying what he said because you had to know that it was 10.99 lb.

The other thing is that I see people collecting state funding because they are too ******* lazy to get a job. The state does not give me anything to support my wife, 4 kids and myself... I do it all on my own... So for once I saw something and I took advantage of it...

you are a shot-taker plain and simple. You had to know it wasn't $1.099/lb. first of all, no grocery store on the planet uses three decimal places.... would you have even dreamed up putting 20 bucks worth of meat in your cart if it was 10.99. Didn't think so. So yes, cheap as fukk.

I get the manager's point. you found a really bad line and took advantage of it. He let you.

it was the right thing for both of you to do. you wanted a good deal but didn't want to be too greedy. they wanted to make you happy (strange way of doing it though by being a bit rude).

legally when someone advertises a price they aren't held to it - the advertised price is called an "invitation to negotiate" in case it is a mistake like in this case the store shouldn't be bankrupted by it. but usually a decent store will honor their mistake price if you don't get carried away and want a ton of it.
i was at boston store (like a macy's) and they had a brewers playoff sweatshirt clearanced at something like 9.99 when the rest were maybe 19.99 (my memory isn't the greatest) - they honored the mistake price after the computer rang it up at 19.99 which i thought was fair.

You knew it was a bad price. If you weren't willing to pay $10.99 you should have pointed it out and asked before buying.

$10.99 is ******* expensive for cold cuts. Should a said let's split the different and I'll give you $5.99 which is a fair price. I pay anywhere from $2.99 to $4.99 for deli meat.

Im not a stiff, I pay for everything I own. I pay back my loans... I found a bad line, took it... Yea, I feel like a dirtbag but that doesnt change the fact that they still legally have to honor it by law.
