Alaska is more than twice the size of Texas and has a population of 670,000.

I was there about 10 years ago, drove up with a friend. Only one main road there which does a circle from the Canadian border to Anchorage up to Fairbanks back to the border, covers about 10% of the state, you need a plane or sled to get anywhere else. Didn't see a traffic light until we entered Anchorage. Went in June, there were so many mosquitos you couldn't even leave the car to pee never mind taking it out. Glaciers were pretty cool, forests as far as you can see. You need to be a different sort of person to live up there especially in winter with 22 hours of darkness every day.
