I've only had Fin du Monde once but thought it was a bit overrated. Have you tried St Sebastian?

Hey, thanks for basically jotting down my Christmas list for Santa, St. Aquinas I've only had three of those on that list -- Liked the Old Chub and sort of liked the Double Bastard. Didn't really like the Blue Point. Definitely have to try to get my hands on the McChoufee-Belgian Scottish Ale. The Belgians are aces when it comes to ales in my opinion.

A bro-in-law and I brew our own Newkie Broon and Boddingtons from knock-off recipes at a shop up in Austin. Not quite as good as the originals, but twice as much fun making and drinking it.

I'm not real snobby about it, Bread. If all you have is cold Lone Star, Coors Light or any of the Bud products (that probably rank at the bottom of my list right now), then that's what I'm drinking. Just know how it was when at an early age I went to the UK for the first time and had the chance to really try a lot of different ales, lagers and stouts. Caught myself wondering the whole time, "Why don't we have stuff like this in America?"

I enjoy going to the World of Beer to mix and match. That is the closest I've come to being world traveled.

Here I am a few years ago...I went to Jamaica, Mexico, China, Poland, The Bahamas and Japan! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

Think I've had everything but the Zywiec (sp?) and Kalik.

You and your much-better half ever been down to Key West? The place has sort of gone to sh¡t since the early-mid 90s or so when it became a day stop on cruise lines with every asshole tourist those floating hotel-malls attract. But I digress. There's a bar over at Land's End Marina named Turtle Kraals that has this deal (or at least they did) with beer from all over the world. If you drank something like 14-16-18 beers from the different countries, you got a free t-shirt that said you drank your way around the world and had the different flags. I got two of those on various visits, think those free t-shirts cost me $90 apiece.

Stella Artois and Warsteiner are my two favorites at home, but when I'm out, I like to try some of our locally made brews. We are fortunate enough here in Asheville to have 7 local breweries that make some pretty tasty brews.

Oh, and Bread - I am the ultimate "beer snob;" I wouldn't drink a light beer or a budweiser product unless I was lost in the desert with no oasis in sight.

Willie, first; thanks for the great baseball articles during preseason baseball.

Second, If I was forced to drink only one beer for the rest of my life it would be McChoufee. The LaChoufee is very good too, but how can you go wrong with a Belgian Brown-Scottish Ale (both are great solo)! I actually found McChoufee on tap two years ago and was told it was the only bar in America that had it...

The Blue Point Toasted Lager is not that great in a bottle.

Belgians are the bomb when it comes to beer, totally agree with that!

I think Miller Lite is actually water with beer coloring. Maybe a hop or two fall into it by mistake from the MGD stockpile, but thats it.

Oh, and Bread - I am the ultimate "beer snob;" I wouldn't drink a light beer or a budweiser product unless I was lost in the desert with no oasis in sight.
Well put Sportsgirl! I agree 100%, local beer is the best. When I grew up my dad took me to beer joints that still had gravity taps and hand pumps. A great combination is local organic food with an amazing local brewed beer in cask condition. While many beers produced on a mass scale are good, local is by far better and healthier.

There's actually a local organic/vegan restaurant in downtown Asheville that serves our local Green Man Ale. Good stuff
