If Gingrich wins the nomination, I think he loses Independent women to Obama. His 3 marriages and bombastic style will turn off a lot of people. I think Romney wins the Independent vote if he gets in.

Newt is a scumbag. The huge difference between what it takes to win the Republican nomination and what it takes to get elected against Obama is the Republicans' problem right now. In my opinion, Jon Huntsman would have been very electable against Obama. He had an intelligence, moderateness, and likability that would have served him well in the general election. So go figure he never even came close and had to drop out already. Romney maaaayyybbee would have a chance, but at the moment it looks like dumbass Repubs are gonna pick probably one of the most unappealing candidates to ever walk the planet in Newt. yes that is the one possible legit vulnerability but first of all, i would not bet on the dems being able to capitalize on it nearly as much as they could, and second of all, the repubs WIN elections when they have a candidate playing ball

mccain/palin was a complete disaster from the playing ball perspective, they took the machine and drove it straight into a ditch, and STILL came a little close, its hard to imagine actually a repub ticket being any worse as far as winning an election

romney is a 100% playing ball guy, and they will figure out the messaging on mormonism and everything else relatively easily and pound the fuk out of it as always and figure out what they have to do in what districts in what states to win

the mormon issue will be NOTHING for a non-dysfunctional repub machine to overcome
