As far Paul and Newt being alike, no they are not. Not even close.

Paul would audit the federal reserve and in due time, eliminate it. Newt wouldn't.

Paul would eliminate personal income taxes and eliminate the IRS. Newt wouldn't.

Paul would end all wars and bring all troops home immediately. Newt would extend the wars indefinitely.

Paul would repeal the NDAA act, the patriot act, and sopa. Newt wouldn't.

Paul would return states rights and restore the Constitution. Newt wouldn't.

Paul would put us back on the gold standard and restore sound money principles. Newt wouldn't.

Paul would repeal Sarbanes-Oxley and Dodd-Frank. Newt wouldn't.

How would he do all this with the current makeup of congress and the senate? I appreciate that he'd be the man in charge, but Obama was in charge and had a majority and some simple regional lobbying against "at risk" candidates was enough to derail a lot of his first term ambitions.

Bush couldn't privatize SS and controlled both houses. How exactly is Paul going to repeal all these acts/laws on his own?

Maybe because there were no good candidates. Mitch Daniels would have been an interesting candidate, but he stepped aside early.

Why would any of you left-wing fanatics think (even for a second) your opinion has any meaning whatsoever when it comes to the republican party deciding which candidate they will send to the post to face off against Obama?

Your thoughts and opinions about Gingrich, Romney or any republican candidate CARRY NO WEIGHT WHATSOEVER!!

While Obama will be sharper this time around during the debates as he's been the commander in chief for the last 4 years, Gingrich will wipe the floor with him. If Gingrich wins the republican nomination, its going to be like pulling teeth in getting Obama to agree to any debate unless everything is rehearsed in advance.

Obama will fare much better against Romney as the 2 men have quite a lot in common. However, Romney has far less personal baggage than Gingrich and will garner a higher percentage of the swing vote than will Gingrich.

Even though Gingrich would make a far better president than Romney, republicans know they have a much better shot at defeating Obama with Romney than with Gingrich so Romney will win the republican nomination though its going to be much closer than originally thought.

Newt has an advantage over all his republican combatants. Newt can have Don King stand in for him and no one will have any clue that anything is amiss. Think about it....... bad hair, big belly, lots of nonsense, big words out of context. Don and Newt have taken similar paths. Don was convicted of manslaughter, Newt waited until he was the speaker of the house to commit ethics violations and the disgraced speaker was forced out by fellow repubs with $300,000 in fines for ethics violations.
