#41he's a dumb **** and has only ruined the country more, yet all these worthless mooching scumbags will vote him in again as the republicans have it given to them on a silver platter yet they can't field the top #1 choice....romney can take the idiot but it will be closer then if chris christie woulda ran
Too much selfishness and trying to be the super star in politics now. Romney/Christy ticket tough to beat but unlikely it will happen.
Whether it would really help is still a crap shoot, I just dont see how it could get worse.Comment -

#44Nixon started it when he took us off the gold standard. It made wealth a meaningless term. Nothing had any basis after that. People could claim they were 'worth' all sorts of numbers because the only thing that they had to compare it to was the 'value' of something that didnt have ay value anymore. Sort of like sports betting in a way.
But once the dollar was only backed by its own reputation and then its strength against other currencies (which didnt have any backing either) it stared the chain of events that got us to where we are now.
Add in electronic transfers, internet and intellectual properties that dont even exist and them being sold for money that may or may not exist and the system is completely out of control.
Now it is just way too late. You cant start over. Thats what capitalism and democracy in combination gets you. A seem closed system where the top minutest percent own or control nearly all the 'wealth'. The way the government ries to 'fix' it is to print more money (because they know money is meaningless) and just try to have more people at least see more money in their own hands, even though it isnt worth nearly what it should be or even was before the money was printed.
Thats why I always laugh when the solution is to just give people money. Or people that want a raised minimum wage or a higher wage for everyone. All that doesnt matter prices and indexes would rise in correlation. If a guy goes from 7 bux an hour to 14 bux an hour he will eventually see the stuff he used to pay 5 bucks for be priced at 10, maybe even more. So what has changed? He has more money but it cost the same or more in comparison. When currency hs no starting point where you can look at a bill or a coin and say that is worth X amount of this (and every other coin or bill of the same denomination is worth the same amount of that X) then currency is useless.
This doesnt have much to do with Obama he is at the whim of the people who control it as much as we are.
I would add to your comment about raising prices along with wage, though, that most people haven't seen their paychecks change for the better despite the rising cost of living. The media and corporations have done an outstanding job of giving the perception that you should be lucky to even have a job and that each and every one of us are expendable. So instead of expecting raises and demanding more for the extra work put in, many people are brain-washed by scare tactics and just "happy to avoid the alternative."Comment -

That is your opinion and you are entitled... But are you a constitutional expert, how much weight does your opinion have?
I said stay tuned
Because the SCOTUS may decide this yr if there is standing, if so, they will decide the constitutionalityComment -

#53Yes and no. It's only "up" slightly from 2000 (11,700 peak) and it's actually down from levels of December 2006-June 2008. Given inflation and the decreasing value of the dollar, I'm not exactly sure how anyone can be bullish on the market. The number is inflated for the general public to feel good.Comment -

SCOTUS will decide on this in June. Despite the lack of a severability clause, I don't think they'll strike the entire law down even if they find the public mandate to be unconstitutional.
Either way, I don't see the SCOTUS ruling anything unconsitutional about it, because the SCOTUS is too far in bed with the health insurance industry.[B][B]They key isn't getting rich quick. The key is getting rich slowly, and enjoying it.

#58How is Gingrich and Santorum both fighting for the conservative vote? The fact that people think Gingrich is a true conservative says it all. The reason that Santorum has made it this far is because the field of candidates is weak. Mitt's Mass. healthcare model was the basis for Obama's. Gingrich has flip flopped on so many issues how can anyone cast their vote for this guy. He's willing to do anything to acquire power and status. He likes to leach himself to Reaganism, but he was never a major player. Santorum...guy is just unlikeable...been strong in the debates lately, but if you can't attack Gingrich and Romney effectively, then you have no business debating. Santorum did great in Iowa, but it's a completely different matter in larger states, where having money is manditory. Santorum's only shot is if the media continue to bash Mitt and Newt and he continues to get an opportunity to get some face time on T.V.
That leaves Paul. I'm voting for the guy if I get a chance, but it's going to take an absolute miracle for him to beat Obama. Moderators will only talk about foreign policy, as everyone perceives this to be Paul's chink in the armor....it's not in the slightest though.
When it's all said and done, I think Obama secures a second term. Republicans are so obsessed with beating Obama that they forgot to back candidates that are just good, solid candidates. Newt is supposed to put Obama in his place during debates. Mitt is supposed to teach Obama economic lessons and god only knows what Santorum is suppose to do.
Just a huge mess IMOComment -

#60All career politicians are liars. Doesn't matter what party they are in. Didn't expect much from Obama so I'm not disappointed in his performance to date. Can't get shit done when congress and senate oppose president not necessarily because of his idea but because of his political party. They all need to go. Romney has no shot so Obama gets 4 more years to try and get things turned around for the people. I am personally better off in all aspects of life than when the worst president in my lifetime, bush jr, was consulting the bible in how to run things.Comment -

#69It's funny.
You could have asked this very same question of Ronald Reagan in 1983.
In September of 1982, unemployment under Reagan rose almost 3 percentage points from the time he took office, until September of 1982.
It was December of 1983 that saw unemployment rates drop, more than 3 years into Reagan's presidency.
I didn't vote for Obama, but there wasn't a man alive who was going to change the course of this country in the last 3 years.
Because Reagan failed, inflation rose, interest rates rose, and the resulting pressure placed on the Savings and Loan industry caused a meltdown. And we all know how that worked out.Comment -

Romney will walk into the White House. Doubt he'll work any miracles.Comment
