Well you have a lot of expenses. Own the house but property taxes are high ($4800/year is pretty steep), you don't own the car (payments on that)...You have a kid. Doesn't take long to add up. Also as someone else said, the more you have the more you spend.

I'm at $3k/mo with mortgage, wife, and 2 year old. It sucks, but it can be done. Hell, mortgage and health insurance is half of my 3k budget. You just gotta cut out all non-essentials...I could shave $2k off your budget easily. I started doing manual labor all day every day on the weekends to make ends meet. Hard ass work, but I look it like I'm getting paid to be in the best shape of my life. Although it pays cash, so if I get hurt in the job I'm essentially screwed.. And a lot of guys who do what im doing get hurt, so im watching my back every second.

Or don't watch your back and let the inevitable happen. Workman's comp.

I know several people who have faked a back injury at work and gotten away with it......

I don't smoke my car is paid for my home is paid for $500 for food $300 for gas .Natural Gas bill is $200 .Water Bill $35 .Electric Bill is + $250 I am on solar and sell my power to the grid.I make $85,000 a month I try to keep myself on a strict budget.
