Definitely an improving team but I think they are still a long way from being Superbowl contenders even with their 1st choice QB.

They went this far without Schaub and Mario. They still had a chance to beat the Ravens in Baltimore in the last minute. Wade Phillips will be back next year. Houston Texans = 2012-13 AFC Conference favorites.

if pats make it to superbowl they will be favored next year.
but texans will be close. lot of ppl forget that besides the fact that yates was a rookie, he wasnt even a backup. he was a 3rd stringer. probably never thought in a million years that he be in a game this year. also as mentioned above without mario williams and andre being banged up all year, texans got a good shot next year

I like this team a lot... Excellent defense this year; much improved from last year's.
Of course, Peyton may be back in town next year, but they will get in at least as a wildcard.

Agreed they are a team that doesn't get a lot of hype and should. It's not really comparable (since the QB is by far the most important position) but for a team to do as well as they did with their injuries is virtually unheard of in any other sport my opinon. Yates did well but needs more time. Get Schaub back healthy and some chemistry again and this team is definitely a great dark horse wager through the season. Cheers

Makes them close. Probably not quite better, I'm just saying the division won't be a cake walk like it was this year if #18 is back.
And sure, puff puff pass my friend

Texans defense is impressive. Foster is unstoppable, only guy to rush for 100+ yards against Baltimore in NFL playoff history... That record itself is crazy
If they stay healthy they are probably #2 seed in the AFC next season

not buying it. I hear people saying that this Texans team is going deep in the playoffs or superbowl bound every year and it never happens. Still not sold on them

They would have blown Balt out with Shaub. No doubt. And would've given NE all they could handle next week. The Patriots have the easiest path to the SB in NFL history.

Patriots, Packers, 49ers all gonna be back. Will be hard for the Texans but they will certainly have their chance in the post season.

They'll have a tougher schedule next year compared to the easiest one ever this year.
The division still sucks unless Manning is healthy.
They play Patriots, Packers, Ravens, Broncos, Jets, Dolphins, Lions.............

I'm a Colts fan but Houston is loaded. The thing is though....they had the Colts beat so many times over the years and Schaub (Rosenfels too) would find a way to lose and Peyton would find a way to win. Schaub would need to take the next step in the playoffs like Eli and I'm not sure he's capable. Both the D-line and O-line are as good as it gets though!

This was Houston's year. Next year, hopefully things go well.
We have a top defense, top running game, top offensive line. And last time i checked those win games.
People think they suck because ESPN doesnt and won't talk about them.

It took them a while but this team solidified its identity as a physical team that relies on running the ball and playing great defense. I remember a couple years ago when they just threw the ball around and couldn't stop anyone. Then in 2010 they completely changed their offensive approach and became a run-first team.

Matt Schaub needs to return better, they need to find a corner to replace Kareem Jackson, and they need a good receiver to be oppisate of Andre Johnson. Super Bowl bound.

Yes sir!!
I was on them ...
Wade stayed in Houston for a reason. Defense WINS championships and that Defense will be dynamite next season. No team will be able to score enough to beat Schuab in the post-season ...

Nobody is forgetting Manning. The Texans were already his nemesis. They had him up against the wall on several occassions in their infancy.
