2012 SBR World Poker Cup - Divide the US

There's too many players in the US. We should look into dividing the US in the Poker Cup. Maybe East/West or North/South since the South didn't want to be a part of the US anyway.

It'd open the competition up and give more than just college kids who can play every day a chance to make the US team. Could make the line the Mississippi River or the sweat tea line?

When you have over 52% of the traffic coming from one specific location (U.S.A), that location should have two teams. Just look at the standings so far: The 10th place U.S.A point man would be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the other regions. It's just going to end up being very lopsided in the average U.S.A. players points to qualify, from the other regions.

They dont even need to base it on where people live. Just make up 2 names and have everyone who moves into the top 50 for USA pick a team by PM. But dont announce who's where until the end, so nobody knows which team has better players or is easier to get into when picking.

USA should have 5 teams ,
since the poker players breakdown is 62.5% USA / 12.5% Europe / 12.5% Canada / 12.5% World .

We did study all the options. I think the best option is to allow the US team a couple of alternates. These alternates will not play unless someone on the team can not make it. The end result is the US would still have a single team, there would still be the exact format and each team would have an equal chance to win.

If we make a minor modification such as adding a couple of alternates there will need to be overwhelming evidence that this is needed. Such evidence could be that the 11th place US player would be first in at least one region.

Bottomline is play hard and we will look at this in March and see if a non format changing modification is warranted, if it is, what it will be. For now; just play hard.

I suggest scrapping the ipad for mvp , so sbr can payout regular points for all 4 teams .( or an additional wildcard team )

imagine playing for 11 weeks and the only prize is 500 poker points with 3X rollover .
