...no way in hell to cap a top 10 pen giving up that many to the Braves of all teams. Unreal way to screw a perfectly capped game on a decent dog.

This is what you get when you have Kevin Gregg as your closer!
Add this one to my Mets bet and i had a lovely evening watching some baseball.

that hurt, knew it was coming too in the 8th. That inning was big for FLA. They just couldn't get that 3rd out. Then Gregg came in and made sure they'd lose.

That was a tough loss to take, had great value at +135.

It was not Gregg's fault. With 1 out in the ninth and the Marlins still up by a run he got Blanco to hit a tailor-made DP ground ball to second. Ramirez couldn't get it out of his glove, and the tying run scored. Escobar then hit a soft ground ball through the infield to win it.

Yes Ramirez messed up the double play, but what about all the at bats before this play occured. 3 run lead with your closer on the mound it shouldn't have come down to Ramirez messing up the DP.
-O. Infante singled to left
- M. Prado doubled to deep right, O. Infante scored
- J. Francoeur singled to center, M. Prado scored
- K. Johnson singled to left, J. Francoeur to third, K. Johnson to second advancing on throw
- C. Sammons fouled out to first
- M. Kotsay hit for W. Ohman
- M. Kotsay intentionally walked
- G. Blanco grounded into fielder's choice, J. Francoeur scored, K. Johnson to third, M. Kotsay out at second
- Y. Escobar singled to right, K. Johnson scored, G. Blanco to second
This isn't the first time Mr. Gregg has blown a big ball game and it won't be the last.

Yes, he got into a jam. But he also got them out of a jam in the 8th. And Johnson's hit was a weak bloop that hit the line.
Bottom line, he made the pitch he needed to make, got the ground ball that he needed to get, and Ramirez f*$kd up.

Agree that he made the pitch he needed to make, but he should never have been in that position in the first place. That was a big ball game for them, probably was the last straw to their season. It just can't happen.

dude, bc of an error he isnt the best player?
right, bc nobody makes errors. he may not be the best, but randomly picking a bad play doesnt have much to do with itr, nor is it proof
i can go on about this but i will not.
its not evidence of anything other than one bad play
anyone who has played baseball knows this

True, everyone makes errors. But not in this situation, on this easy a play, with this much on the line.

I definitely agree that taking FLA was excellent capping on a decent dog but I would like to see the #'s that back up FLA having a top 10 pen.
Maybe in the first half they were but they are a train wreck since the ASB

Good point there...they were #9 heading into yesterday for the year I believe....dropped to #12 after last night. Either way I do agree that they have had quite the downfall lately. Still a ways better than the Atl pen and you don't expect them to give up that many runs to Atlanta's pieced together line-up. I had no wager on the game...just feel for those who did.
