Yeah I saw the story on the news; her husband died on Christmas day. It does seem like a strange set of circumstances.

The intruder had a knife; I'm glad she killed the SOB.

What if this clearly crazy guy (seriously, storming around a rural house for 20 minutes trying to break in?) has a gun of his own? What if he lunges at you? You going to gamble that a mentally ill criminal will make the logical, reasonable choice to run away?

Forget that. I'm ending the threat by shooting to kill. Don't ever buy a gun if you have qualms with this concept. This is self defense 101. You're not even supposed to draw a weapon unless you intend to put captain badass intruder in a wooden box. Dead men tell no tales.

The lesson isn't about shooting to kill or being a liberal or owning a fuking german shepherd. The lesson is don't break into houses that don't belong to you. The guy made a bad decision and now he won't be able to make another one. It is sad, but it is survival, and he was not mentally fit to survive. If you're going 5 miles over on the interstate the cops are there in 1/2 a second. If someone is breaking into your house with a weapon the cops don't show up until the crime scene tape is needed.

Yeah prison is a vacation, and being separated from society in often violent conditions for an extended period is a walk in the park. You should migrate to Saudi Arabia if you want to see criminals get mutilated.
