Well boys here is part 3 of 3 of my SBR Bash Blog.
Friday –
Check-in/Pre-Ice Breaker - Lisa and I got to the Golden Nugget around 4pm, was in town Thursday staying at The Orleans. I walked in and saw the sign for “Welcome SBR Forum” and right off the bat I knew this wasn’t going to be a low class operation. We went to check in and got right in with no line. The lady goes through the check in process and then says “Ok your room is prepaid here is your room keys, oh and by the way if you check out a day early there is a $50 charge”. I was like wow never heard of that before but whatever. So we go to our room on the 7th floor. Got in the room no problem then went walking. I noticed myself walking around wondering “hmmm that guy could be on the forum, I wonder if he is”. So we gambled some and went back to the room to get ready for the ice breaker. On the way up we walked by the pool, wow is that thing sweet!
Ice Breaker – We got ready and started to head to the ice breaker. For some reason I was very nervous cause I did not know how people would be. Would they be fags? Would they be stuck up dicks? Was this some low class ran operation that would be unorganized? Well let me tell you the answer to everything is NO!. We get off on the elevator to the convention center floor and we see a sign that says “SBR News”. We walk in the room and there is a table with 3 guys standing behind the table. Right as I walk in Willie Bee (I didn’t know it was him at the time) looks up and goes “IWin! Whats up brotha!”. I then walk up to the table and MrD was standing behind it, introduces himself to me and shakes my hand, checks my name off the list, gives me my name tag and $300 cash. I then move over and meet Bill Dozer (who I thought was like 50 years old and probably fat but in reality he is like low 30’s and could probably pull major tail). He gave me my Tommy Bahama shirt with SBR logo on it. I then buy a raffle ticket from Willie Bee and Lisa and I walk to the bar (on the way to the bar I look at the shirt and see a price tag for $160….impressive). Lisa and I get a drink from the OPEN bar (which by the way was serving all top-shelf drinks). We then go to an empty table because…..well we don’t know anybody. We sat there for about 10 minutes taking everything in. About 15 tables in the room and 3 big ass plasma screens with SBRChat, Forum, and Live Lines up. After that we decide to mingle and we goto a table and met RageWizard, Junkyard dog, and Diogee. All 3 of them were real cool so we made that our home table also. Junkyard dog then tells me some guys are posting right now asking where I am. I walk over there and it’s PiMike and EnglishMike. Talk to them for a little bit then we head back to the table and meet up with MonkeyFuker and JBC77(I think its 77). Pretty much hung out at that table the whole night. Someone points out Happy Boy so I talk with him for a bit (cool as **** guy, probably could beat up all SBR). SBR_John makes it over to our table and talked with us for a bit. John is an awesome guy. I talked with him a litte bit about SBR and everything. John knows what he is doing, very smart guy. I asked John and JJGold and he said “All the bookmaker in CR know who he is by name”….I was kind of shocked to be honest with ya. Ganch comes up to our table and is talking to Lisa for a little bit why I was talking with JBC, Dio, and MokeyFoker. I walked over and Ganch introduced himself to me and said “Im offering Lisa 1 million dollars for a 3some” (sorry if I’m busting you out Ganch). Ganch………where the fuk is my money. Anyways so I spend the rest of the night talking 90% of the time with PiMike, EnglishMike, Dio, JunkyardDog, JBC, MonkeyFoker, and HappyBoy. Icebreaker was over and everyone hit the casino. Some guys went across to another casino, HappyBoy and I went to play poker…saw SBRJohn on the craps table and EnglishMike was walking around looking for tea and crumpets…..weirdo.
Saturday
Poker Tournament – Went to the “Grand Room” for the tourney, not knowing what to expect of course again. I walk in and see 9 poker tables, open bar again and with a waitress (ps they had one at the icebreaker also) and a bunch of dealers (I expected like SBR mods being the dealers and whatever, like a home game tournament. Nope, SBR pulled out the money again and had a tourney director, dealers, everything. Talked with HappyBoy and PiMike prior to tourney, and then here walks in Against All Odds. Didn’t recognize him with his goofy wig on. AAO is one cool cat. Talked with him before the tourney and then signed in with MrD and Dozer. Paid the $30 and got that Poker chicks autograph. Then sat down and played. Got knocked out by Brook after an hour. I went all in with AK preflop and he called with K10. 10 hit the flop and that was that. After that I went up and got Lisa and we went to the pool. The pool was awesome; you could swim right up to the window and watch the big ass sharks and fish swimming around. Went down the water slide then hit the hot tub. Then it was time to get ready for the SBR Dinner.
SBR Dinner – Hit the dinner about 815, dressed nice wondering again “is this going to be super nice again, SBR has to cut some corners somewhere”…..wrong again. Walk in to this pre-dinner area with 5-6 tables and…….you guessed it open bar. Met up with Pimike, EnglishMike, and MonkeyFoker. We talked about the Friday Night and PiMike getting left at Scores Strip club (I think he did it on purpose). MrD comes out and says time for dinner and stuff. So we walk into the formal dinning room and sit down. At my table were Lisa and I, PiMike, EnglishMike, BrentCrude, and two other guys sorry I forgot your poster names. Willie Bee then gets up and give the opening speech, and hands out some awards: EnglishMike: Rookie of the year, BrentCrude: OT poster of the year, and Tacomax: MVP….or the douchebag award, one of the two. We then have an AWESOME dinner of steak, fish, and little potato wedges, then desert was some awesome chocolate thing. Now its time for the raffle, giving away (2) $500 prizes and (3) Ipod Touches. I forget who all won, but Dozer and WillieBee won IPOD touches and said “redraw the names”. That was cool. Then, Doug Stanhope (the comedian that performs), his girlfriends wins the first $500 prize and says give it to St. Jude. THEN she wins the 2nd $500 prize. Talk about crazy stuff. So now Doug Stanhope comes on stage and says “Ya how does it feel that my girlfriend won your drawings take that mathematicians. What are the odds for that?” Stanhope was funny as hell. When Jenbird intro’d him she offered to sell a video on her fuking Ganch with a strapon for $50,000….EnglishMike started digging in his wallet only to find he was $49,949 short. Stanhope was awesome, great choice SBR!. The bash ended, I collected my goody bag…in the bag was all SBR logo’d Glass cup, coffee cup, mousepad, hat, moneyclip, beer cozey, and playing cards. The Nike bag had an SBR logo on it too. Don’t forget about the Tommy Bahama shirt we got on Ice Breaker night. Lisa and I then went to go watch the show on Fremont Street, and Mr and Mrs Willie Bee said they were going so we tagged along. Mrs Willie Bee and a very pretty and sweet lady….Willie what your paying her? (jk pal). Lisa and I then headed back to The Orleans and said goodbye to the SBR Bash.
***My final thought: Jesus, SBR spared no experience for this thing. Everything was so high class, I was shocked. Everything was organized to perfection and SBR did not nickel and dime nothing. Example being SBRJohn could have saved a few buck by not serving Absolute Vodka at open bar…..he could have said put the cheap stuff up there. SBR treated us like royalty and really showed the appreciated us. All the posters were great, not one bit of drama or nothing. This whole event cost SBR probably close to $70,000 all said and done.
SBR……Thank you! You guys rock! Keep up the great work and thanks for an awesome weekend! It was a pleasure meeting everybody from the forum, and I will 100% be back there for the next bash. Lisa enjoyed herself too and now she’s showing an interest in the forum because of how nice everybody and everything is. She may start posting soon and joining the chats.
PS- Nicky and JJ, I did not have on Security issue. PiMike was watching my back.
