Why Doesn't Iphone Make A Slid-Out Keyboard??

My girl works on Park Ave in Manhattan at a medical office. Very Rich part of manhattan, if your not familiar. A lot of the patients there are actors and are loaded. Uma Thurman and Al Rokers kids where there last week. Anyway, she works the front desk and says that 70-75% of the clients have blackberrys. When she asks why, they all say the same thing. They had iphone, but took it back because they can't type on the touch screen. I have a blackberry because I have the same problem. Iphone could make even more of a killing if the just made a slider keyboard like the blackberry torch. Wtf are they waiting for?

Anyone who needs to work on their phone a lot for business will have a Blackberry. Or should, anyway. Most people I know with high flying jobs have both. iPhone's for play, for their kids, for the cool apps, iTunes, etc... Blackberry is for the serious stuff.

No. It's perfectly synced with Outlook, has bbm, connects to the Microsoft Exchange server, has all the Office apps, etc.

But I'm sure some prefer it simply because of the keyboard. Really though, there's a reason it's called Crackberry. If you need a phone for work, it's the best one to have.

Okay I guess that makes more sense but any phone with apps can cover all of those features. In fact my iPhone has a bunch of apps that are industry specific for me with certain analytical tools that BB could never have. I can't see how a BB would be a better phone in any situation.

A product with 'ridges/keys/etc' isn't something that's within apple's current design language for it's ipods/iphones/ipads. How smooth and sleek can you make it? They will sacrifice having the latest tech inside it to make it thinner sleeker.

Apple just banked $26 Billion (with a B) in net profit in FY11. I don't think they're going to overhaul their entire product philosophy to copy a company that's looking at the edge of the cliff and hoping they can continue to fly.

They're sitting on $81 Billion in cash. Liquid. That's more than the US Gov't. They could have bought T-Mobile. Twice.

I don't care what actors think. Ever. I don't care if they're racist, if they're stoopid, if they're non-charitable or if they save kittens on their days off. I want them to do the dance and entertain me.

I do care what people who think for a living think.

I wouldn't use BBM because we use other messenger types of apps at work and some of our other 'work-related' programs/apps/etc like BaseCamp I just like better on the iphone.

I've had both. I've liked both when I had them. I just can't stand the 'either/or' reasoning of most people and their &%*$ mobile electronics (or the, 'your phone can't do X, when, chances are, it can).

Anybody who believes that somebody using an iphone instead of a Blackberry at their job is a 'kid' is the same type of person that needs to put on a suit every day to help them continue to feel like a professional.

Old job gave me the blackberry for work, I had an iPhone personally. Used the iPhone for both, bb was left in the glovebox. Typed this on the iPhone too, no problem if you don't have fat fingers.
