Hi this is my first post and i have a question?
    Hi
I guess i am what you call a lurker.I have been betting off shore for years.I only post at one other place, but i always checked your rating before opening an acct with a book.
How that you know alittle about me.Here is my question

I have an acct with hollywod for many years.Right now i have alittle under 5k in there.
I read your report that hollywood is going to be -110 juice.I went into there live chat and the clerk did say that the juice is now -110,but when i logged on i can still lay the -107??

So should i place a bet there laying the -107???
    Or ask them first?
After all if i didn't know about the forums. How would i know that they changed the juice. The only thing that worries me is when i was in the live chat,I did give them my acct #.
    What do you guys think????

Also feel free to say hello joe

As you might be aware, Hollywood have been bought out by the Sportingbet group. The site doesn't look any different at the moment but I guess pretty shortly they are going to move over to the World Gaming platform and change their website.

It appears that Hollywood will be reverting to a standard Sportingbet site. This means -110 lines, although they do have -105 lines on Friday. Baseball lines are 10 cent lines with a $2K-ish maximum, including overnight 10 cent lines with a $500 limit if I remember rightly.

Should you close your acocunt now? Well, that's up to you. It's fair to say that Sportingbet has a much lower reputation than the old Hollywood group and, if your reasons for choosing Hollywood was mainly due to the safety then a move might be good for you. I like Sportingbet, but I can say that since I've never had a problem there; other people's experiences differ wildly. In all honesty, you should have a look at all the books listed at the top and take your pick from there based on what they can offer you - you'll be pretty safe with any of the books on the SBR recommended list.

    Oh, and "hello jo".

      Thanks for the reply tacomax

I am not really looking to close the acct..not yet anyway.

I just was asking if it was ok to place a bet -107 over the internet when the clerk told me it's now -110.

      tks for the hello:

To be honest, there's every chance the clerk isn't clued up onto what's actually happening. It was -107 yesterday, it probably will be -110 at the end of the week but the clerk won't know when exactly the change will be. Especially since they're still advertising -107 on the site.

first off, welcome to the sbrforum

yes, you should ask them before placing a wager in regards to the vig.

if there software hasn't been updating yet to show the dime line, then i can't see them enforcing the dime line vig after the bet has been placed at the 107 price.

Howdy, Joe I would say place the bet at -107, but don't be surprised if it's accounted at -110. Might not be the answer you're looking for, but I also sure as heck wouldn't count on getting a -107 with them right now.

            Hope you stick around SBR.

              Hello Joe. Welcome to SBR.

I would check with them first. Or dont depend on getting the -107, and go ahead and bet it like your getting -110.

Thanks for all the welcomes and replys

I ended up betting cleveland -107 online and dallas -107.
I always bet on the even #ex;$500 to win XXX
They graded the cleveland win at the -107
However i will listen to Terris advice and pull out my cash as soon as the -110 goes up on their webpg.
I do feel that i lost a good friend.I always liked that guy bj.I assume that he is NOT there anymore.

I do not feel i am doing anything wrong. After all its still on the webpg and they are still taking bets at the -107.

                      Welcome Joe.

I'm more of a small timer, but if the line says -107 on the ticket or the verification box, I'll assume it's -107. Just print a copy of the ticket as proof in case you need it. But, I am sure they will honor a ticket, even if you got told something different by CS. CS isn't always 100 percent on top of things. In fact, 50 percent is sometimes a lofty goal, as you'll see if you stickaround and hear some horror stories.

                      Grrrr my spacebar is sticking.

quick note. hollywood was not bought by sportingbet. sbr and other sites are reporting that incorrectly.

hollywood sought out and has become a licensee of sportingbet which is a major difference. its not a white night situation however hollywood wouldn't have lasted much longer if they stayed on the path they were going. how sbr had them at a a+ amazes me. they needed help and courted sportingbet. some other a+ books are in the same boat.

sportingbet has -105 on select days and is moving to true dime lines for baseball. no fee banking and reduced juice specials will actually be better in the long run than -107 for small punters who make more than a dozen withdrawals a year.

i wonder which ratings site will be the first to get the entire story. so far everybody is wrong.

How do you draw those conclusions from this report?

Sportingbet Plc Takes Over Hollywood Sportsbook
The Hollywood website and player accounts will be activated on Sportingbet’s World Gaming system today. Players will still be able to reach the book’s customer service manager Victor and his staff, which has also migrated to the World Gaming office, by calling 1-800-220-0002. Marty, one of the industry’s top General Managers who is credited for much of the book’s success, will no longer be involved with Hollywood. HollywoodSportsbook.com will feature World Gaming’s lines and will no longer offer players a -107 lineset. Hollywood has been downgraded to B as SBR monitors the book’s transition, anticipating the potential for changes in operational procedures. Sportingbet company press release can be found here.

Maybe you are thinking of Hollywood's own post-sale release.

Whether it's shareholders or specific individuals in the company is not important. It will be listed on paper the way it needs to. What is important is who doesn't own the company. The public information states controlling ownership was sold in a cash transaction. We have seen licensee companies use different corporate names so the sites can use different poker networks. How its listed means little. The WG lic can be seen here flip-flopping under different corp names.

Hollywood is expected to operate on a higher level due to inherited principals dedicated to this brand.
