even though the cubs will most likely win easily ......its a baseball gm and anything can happen

If this game were played 100 times, would the Cubs win 81+?

If yes, then there is "value"... 7600 lost on the 19 losses and 8100 won on the 81 wins, and you have yourself a profit.

The problem is one would have to make that bet all 100 times. Most people don't bet that way.

Indeed. But if you bet every solid -400 line you see with the same amount of money each time, it could be a profitable affair if you win 4+ outta 5 of these.

Rich Harden has been as good as anyone in baseball since he joined the cubs, the line reflects that, and washington is as bad a team as there is

4k to win an easy dime.

Cubs runline would probably be worth it, I smell a BLOWOUT tomorrow!!

How about Paul Maholm, who is having a very good year for the Pirates, @ +275 against CC Sabathia, whose arm should fall off any day now given that he is pitching 11 innings a game since he has been with the Brew Crew. I think there is good value there.

Looks like another 2.5 run line play for me as Harden is unhittable.

I have a feeling Sabathia might lose his first game today and at +275 and Maholm pitching well it's worth a shot.

Why do You think Sabathia would loose? He is playing the Pirates. And they suck!!!

Sabathia isn't God, he is due for a bad or at least mediocre start... I can see him let down against a sub-par team, plus his workload is getting high..coming off a 130 pitch outing too. With Maholm pitching super of late, its worth a shot. Pirates have a way of winning games they have no business winning..and losing ALL the rest.

This also represents the fact that its the rubber game of the series, the cubs are highly unlikely to lose a series at home to Washington at this point...

Don't know when the LAST time was, but I do remember this game from 2000:

Tampa Bay Devil Rays beat Boston Red Sox (1-0). May 6, 2000, Attendance: 32497, Time of Game: 2:36. Visit Baseball-Reference.com for the complete box score, play-by-play, and win probability

Boston and Martinez was a -400 favorite against Tampa Bay and Trachsel. Tampa bay won 1-0.
