only bright light in their future is bynum, but one swallow doesnt make a spring

even if they make the playoffs, they are probably looking at an early exit

They'll be improved once Bynum comes back but he's as injury prone as they come anyways. The Lakers are close to the point where they should clear house and rebuild with new, younger players. However, it's highly unlikely that they make the smart move and trade Kobe while he still has some trade value. No way are they a serious contender with this current roster though.

side note:

lakers play again today. 3 nights in a row to start the year, with a limited training camp and a banged up, short staffed team. utah is not good but even if kobe wasnt hurt he prob would get a rest tomorrow anyway.

They will, but I think they'll be between a 5 and 8 seed. Bynum changes everything. He makes their defense so much better.

Without Bynum now, this team reminds me of the Lakers after Shaq left and before Pau got there.
