According to some news sourcers as of Fri nite, the other possbiles whose names have been bandied lately were notified that they were out.

And tht students at a Deleware college where Biden teaches part time in the summer have been told to expect a substitute instructor.

Kind of spongy, but it's likely correct.

Biden's mouth has gotten him into trouble in the past. Grist for the late night comedians.

Sen Biden, altho from the small state of Delaware, with few electoral votes, supposedly has strong connections with voters in big Pennsylvania, esp white Catholic working class types.

Biden's position on Iraq is that he wants a weak central govt there, and strong local rule by Shias in the South, Sunnis in the middle, and Kurds in the north.

The Shia-dominated Iraqi govt will likely have a different idea

All this bad press has made Obama...a huge underdog...Obama was raised muslim and is pompous and arrogant for someone with no experience to be president and lead a country...I'm baffled at having to choose between him and Grandpa... Biden is his running mate...confirmed...horrible choice...

Joe Biden is a US Senator from Delaware. He has been in the Senate for nearly 36 years. He was technically elected when he was 29 (his birthday is in November), and as some of you non Americans (and unfortunately native Americans) might be unaware of, you have to be 30 to be a United States Senator.

Things will move quickly, and the McCain campaign will be sure to mention his plagiarism 20 years ago. I don't think Biden would have been my first choice, but he's definitely a good choice for our country.

Months ago I said here that there is no way Obama was going to pick Hillary as his VP mate.

Several thought I was stupid, that hitching to the Clintons was the only way he could win.

Win or lose in Nov, picking Hil would not have done him any good. She has far more negatives than he or McCain does,and the few women or white workingpeople who won't vote for him without Hil is far outweighed by the number of independents and moderate Republicans who would surely not vote for him if Hillary were on the ticket.

Plus, he wouldn't need the Clinton pair in the White House taking the spotlight off him.

Nor would he want to worry about a fatal shot --- from behind.
