I'm not votng for Obama, or anyone else. He's not really a "change agent;" he'll wind down Iraq and wind up Afghanstan. He'll make no real changes in the farcical Welfare for Corporations NAFTA agreement, nor any of the others.
Still, I've nothing but total disgust for the sh1tbum smear artists who surface each presidential campaign, putting the first amendment to the test.
Something called American Issues Forum (or some such) is trying to spend millions to air a tv ad that links Obama to a elderly man who in the 60s was a member of the WEather Underground and who was on the lam for years. Today he is a staid professor, and was on the same "help the poor" committee that many others, Repubs as well, are on.
A typical DoGooder charity. But the smearbunders are going to create a link in the mind of Joe Sixpack NoBrains.
Just like a similar group four years ago did to John Kerry. Whatever one thinks of Kerry, he could have gotten a deferment, but instead volunteered to join the Army and go into combat.
So the smearbunders group, Swift Boat Veterans (funded I believe by the oilman who is now running windmill commericials) went after the nature of Kerry's service.
On behalf of a half-witted little rich boy who used his Daddy's influence to get him into the National Guard, and all kind of perks while he was in the Guard.
In other words a guy who was a coward, a creep, and a fake. Who later became the US President.
Back in the '30s a prominent poet, Robinson Jeffers, wrote a poem titled, "Shine, Perishing Republic."
Yep, the shine is brigjht now, just before the rot eats thru the national fabric, never to be repaired.
