WTF! Greek Sent me a canadian check

i just deposit those types of checks and my bank clears them in 2 business days,no trouble at all

This is actually great news. We all know what happened to Bodog who left their funds in US processors.

This day in age I feel much more comfortable receiving a foreign check in US dollars than a check from a US bank. It gives me more confidence in the book I'm using. Confidence that their management is avoiding risk.

If you get a check from any book dont plan on using the funds for at least a month after you deposit. This is to avoid the check bouncing 2 or 3 weeks after you deposit it and you have spent the funds.

Got my Canadian check from Wsex and took the above advice to my bank (wellsfargo)...

They wouldn't cash it, said I had to wait 4-6 weeks for some international thing, blah blah blah.

I don't care, money will be in there soon enough, point being...it is NOT that easy for some.

I use that bank, and I find it hard to believe the 4-6 week thing. They can put a hold on the check, but only for 10 business days. Usually they recognize that the funds have cleared prior to the hold release date.

go to a currency exchange if you can't wait and/or get some lame ass bank with holds like that...i can't deal with any holds myself.

I received a canadian check recently from 5 dimes. The previous times it was a U.S. check. Anyway, the hot ass bank teller lady simply smiled and deposited the money right away with no questions asked. It really depends on the bank you deal with. But yes candian checks are just fine.

I will say this-guys-go to your bank or credit union,or wherever you do business. Speak to the manager-ask him what the banks policy is on out of country check cashing is - unsigned money orders-etc -this way you will have no surprises. If your bank holds a check for more than 10 days- shop around for a new bank-or a book that has a ATM CARD.

Its in US Dollars, never a problem for me. You must be a loser.(never cash out) They have been sending them for a while, along with other books.

Don't ever use a bank if you can use a credit union.
