If it's federal, (which it probably is, anything over a certain weight is) there are mandatory minimum sentences.

I thought it was FBI who caught him so its probably goin to be Fed time which means he will serve a few years minimum. Article said he was only selling in Chi but if they find he crossed state lines that ups his sentence as well. Plus depends on if the judge wants to make an example out of a high profile case. I don't think he'll get 40 years tho.

I know a woman who got a 10 yrs sentence, did 8.5 yrs in a federal prison for recieving LSD thru the mail. IIRC, Average rapist does something like 4 yrs. Average murder does 8 yrs.

If she had got a 10 year State prison sentence she would have done 2 yrs at the most.


Those mandatory minimums from the feds are fuking naughty. Not to be fuked with.

Well its tough, because selling felony weight of coke means you are indirectly involving yourself with the violence associate with the drug trade. Vick, not only killed the dogs but also took delight in torturing them (he ******* electrocuted one of them). So he forced them to fight and kill each other and than tortured them. Dogs are a living being, they have feelings, they feel pain... its pretty messed up. Normal people cannot even watch that happen, let alone do it. Their has to be something psychologically wrong with him.

Right. The public loves to pretend that they are close with their favorite athletes, know everything about them, call them on a first name basis etc etc. Thing is unless you know them personally you do not know everything about them. Sure, plenty of "good guys" turn out to actually be good people on and off the field, but you never know. Some players are major assholes on the ice and are the most friendly people in the league off of it.

Also, Hurd is far from the only player that pulls this shit. I forgot the guys name, but the Indiana police still think a certain NBA player (played for the trailblazers) is the largest marijuana dealer in Indianapolis.
