Driving by the LANDMARK sign today it hit me that tourists should be getting their picture with it instead of the stupid WELCOME TO LAS VEGAS sign that is now a "tourist attraction" all it's own.

The LANDMARK is simply legendary...............remember watching Richard Gere film the movie BREATHLESS there in the early 80's.........he was a real prick on the set.

Alot of history at the Riv. Very sad to see its decline. The Marx brothers and Dean Martin used to be part owners of the Riviera. Lots of mafia ties to the Riv as well. Too bad

The only thing I like in the Riviera is (if you go upstairs by the theatre) they have a bunch of old pictures from the 50's and 60's with a bunch of the celebrities that played/stayed there back in the day. Kinda cool to see what it was like back then.

Yep I went there one day when I was living in Vegas and the place was completely dead.

I hit up one of the 21 tables and there was a funny one eyes European dude with a funny accent dealing, I won 60 bucks off him playing 2 hands, got a beer and left.

Riviera went through some upgrades recently. Although, their biggest upgrade was the sportsbook which Leroy's sold to Lucky's recently. It was nice but nobody went there. Now, the Lucky's book is tucked into a corner at the strip entrance. Not sure if they plan on moving into the old Leroy's space eventually or not.

Pretty doubtful that there will be too many major projects undertaken any time soon. Things have stabilized but they aren't ideal for investing a great amount of capital right now.

No, closed long ago.

The Silver Slipper was a sister property of the old Castaways(sportsbook cashier there 1986-87) which closed in 1987..........the Mirage sits there now. The Silver Slipper closed a short time thereafter.

If one ever gets to the Biloxi/Gulfport area, take in the Slipper there, they have lots of old memorbilia from the original Silver Slipper.
