#41Its not that we come to the U.S. to make the big money playing hockey, its just that there are so many more teams down there to play for. With the salary cap in place you don't make anymore playing for an american team as you do up here, just look at Jarome Iginla, makin some large cash.Comment -

Very strange. I would for one love to see more teams in Canada. Used to be 8 Richie and now only 6. I bet it has to do with cash.Comment -

#46It had to do with cash when the canadian dollar was shit and the teams paid their players in american. when the fans show up (almost all the canadian teams sold out) and they pay canadian dollar but the team has to pay the players american it was hard. But not so much now, actually players would prefer to be paid in canadian funds... just kiddin but you know what I mean.Comment -

#48Actually, most players negotiate their salaries in US Dollars, whether they are on Canadian or American teams.
The US Dollar is the standard currency in North & South America.Comment -

#49Nicky:
Montreal is a one trick pony.
Couldn't keep a MLB team, have no NBA team and no chance of NFL ever coming to Quebec, of course you focus on the Habs , there's nothing else.
Counting Stanley Cups prior to expansion is meaningless, the 6 team league cups shouldn't count.
Plus the Habs had the rights to all Quebec born players, before any other team could get them, that was an unfair advantage, but it was the only way Montreal could get good players, they had to force them.
I do like the big blue Maple Leaf though.

#50Thats what I was saying I was kidding that they wanted to be paid in canadian funds. All that I was saying is that some teams didn't make it (winnipeg, quebec) because when the canadian dollar was absolutely pitiful the teams still had to pay players in american money but the canadian fans paying to go to the games were paying in canadian funds, which at the the time had to teams losing money even with a full house every night (winnipeg)Comment -

I love all Canadian based teams where English is the first language, plain and simple, I could care less about French - Canadian teams/players/history/anything.
PS: You're likely the furthest thing from a brain surgeon, but you're probably good at something, let us know when you figure out what it is.Comment -

#60Originally posted by Nicky Santauroplommer, this might shock you, but i seriously, HATE THE HABS NOW.. no joke.. i have bet against them in every game and playoffs for the last 6 yrs. i hate the french people as much as you, maybe even more.. i dont like those french canadian hab fans.. i hated the flags on their windshields on 46% of all cars throughout the 1st 2 rounds this year.. i was the happiest guy in the world when they were eliminated.. i don't like the frenchies either, trust me..

I've made a small fortune betting against the Leafs, they are ridiculously low-priced on Saturday night home games and often get beat bad, only to come back the following week as low-priced favs.
I love the Leafs because they don't often let me down when I'm against them.
They did hurt me once a couple of years ago when I bet them to beat Buffalo in Buffalo at +230 and were winning 4-1 ,with 8 mins left in the third period, Raycroft was in net and let in 4 straight goals in the last few minutes of the game to lose in regulation, couldn't even hold on to make it to O/T.
That one hurt.Comment -

#62Nicky, this may shock you but I was once a Leaf fan but was continually abused by the organization and had too many let-downs to continue to support them.
I too am annoyed with local fans that think just because the team is popular that they are contenders every year, the fans here are brain dead.
I'll support the Leafs once they get a competitive team and a respectable management/ownership in place.
Until then I'll cheer for Edmonton & Ottawa. Yep Ottawa!
That Buffalo game still gives me the creeps when I think about it, if I had the opportunity, I would have bitch-slapped Raycroft for that performance.Comment -

We invented the game. It is our game. Players in Canada get paid just as much as if they were playing in the U.S. Wayne Gretzky is Canadian and started in Edmonton, Same with Mess, Look at players now like Sundin, Iginla, Phaneuf, Spezza, Heatley, Luongo, these (Sundin is unsigned) are 7 - 8 million dollar players playing in Canada. There are several 5 - 6 million dollar players as well.
If it wasn't for Canada there wouldn't be an NHL. Hell if it wasn't for Canada there wouldn't be an NBA since it was a Canadian who invented Basketball. Hell I hear we even produce the best weed. You disappoint me!!!
I think you owe us Canadian posters a true heartfelt apology. I will be waiting for the apology via one of your videos.
BTW, Did you know that per capita Canada would BLOW any american sports (MLB, NFL, NCAAF/B) league away in TV viewership and attendance. CBC Hockey Night in Canada on a Saturday night regularly gets about 2.5 million viewers and we only have 30 million people here.Comment -
