#7nice but let's put this in perspective though
mgm was a $100 stock now it's $10
harrah's got bought out for $100 now it's essentially bankrupt
boyd was $50 stock now it's $6
echelon never finished
fountainbleu never finished
1 in 3 homes in foreclosure
25% commercial vacancies
vegas would be in much better shape if wynn/encore/venetian/palazzo were never built. way overbuilt and way too many people moved there for construction jobs.
if miami legislation goes through, there's 5-10 million people/year that might go to miami instead of vegas (las vegas gets about 35million/year with almost 10 million of those coming from la/san diego).Comment -

#8LAS VEGAS 10-1 overf MIAMI................my goal is to never step foot in the crummy state of Florida again.
VEGAS is the MAJOR LEAGUES of gaming.................and they have great weather..............plus, hoards of people can once again visit me on their vacations to Vegas, which is highly +EV in so many aspects..............
............just ask the many that have already done so on this board.
Poster JJgold leading the way in comps and +EV gaming advice handed out since my return..................guy is a human sponge, and this is meant as a compliment.Comment -

i was in no way saying miami would ever come close to vegas, but over the next few years they could easily take 5-10 million/year off of vegas' numbers. losing 20% of their visitors would be disastrous to vegas.Comment -

#10Realize what you meant, just rambling with my morning coffee...............yes, it would hurt Vegas SLIGHTLY...........remember, there are casinos now all over the United States, including Florida.Originally posted by milwaukee mikemiami doesn't have great weather?

#13Nevada is still struggling though. High unemployment and what is more viable in that state than casino jobs? Still has a long ways to go before it can hit its peak again.Comment -

#16jjgold it is nice there in Vegas. I would love to go there someday if I had the money I would highly consider moving there because you are close to LA and San Diego to see horse racing and live sports. You can even drive to Phoenix also. It is well located within driving distance of several cities to see sports and horse racing. I think it would be much better weather wise than what it is like here in the mid west.Comment -
