It's not like he retired. Even with him not playing he's still a top 5 QB, could even see some arguing he's the best.

Just about anyone else and I'd agree, but he's way too competitive. I think if the Colts let him go, he will wind up in Dallas.

the better question is why are there only 4 great QB's and then the rest of the NFL?
Aaron, Ben, Brady, Brees and then everyone else. you can't try to put Eli in there cuz he is inconsistent, had one hot streak that won him a superbowl and can't throw in wind, rain or snow.
i can tell you this. if he stays healthy, about 3 or 4 years from now you can add Andy Dalton to the list. how many rookies you see look off the safety? The game isn't too fast for him. he is going to be very, very good. Romo is Favre with a weaker arm, tries to force too many throws.
Matt Ryan? Did you miss last week's game? Matt Schaub is better.

Peyton is competitive and one of the best ever but he is not stupid. he has nerve damage and he his not going to risk more nerve damage unless he had be 100% sure

As far as Eli is concerned are you serious?
The year they won a Super Bowl he didn't have a "hot streak". The defense played great and the running game was good along with Eli playing good.
Eli's last three years he has gotten better. Eli's WRs lead the league in dropped and tipped balls which lead to half of his interceptions. Also he plays in the toughest stadium in the league, according to almost every opposing team to throw the ball in, also with an offense that has always been run first.
Not to mention that Eli's WRs haven't been great. Compare Eli's WRs to Atlanta, San Diego, Patriots (early and mid 2000s), Colts (Wayne, Harrison, Clark). Eli had Plax, won a Super Bowl, went 12-4 the next year then that whole incident happened. Eli doesn't have a core of WRs to throw to or a great TE. Also the Giants defense is awful. Eli is an elite QB who in a system like Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, New Orleans, would put him in the top stats wise every year.

I just don't get why people are so quick to criticize Eli yet I never hear the rest of the team getting any criticism. It's always Eli and Coughlin who are to blame. Put in any of the other QBs in the league outside of the elite QBs in New York and they are drafting in the top 5 the last three years.

Blue...I agree with your list entirely...I will say though, it's refreshing to see you grade Eli so objectively and not with NYG fan goggles on...if I am indeed reading the obvious that you are actually a Giants fan.
I'm a Packer season ticket holder, and I can tell you this though, we certainly left this year's game much more impressed with Eli than we did last years game. He played well. That secondary is awfully beat, and I'm not sure how the defense has gotten so bad recently...they are still right in it though...should be a fun game this weekend and last 4 weeks here.

big talk for a team who barley got by the horrific skins took a last second fg to beat the fins and just lost to the cards lol.
as a packer fan i'd love the broke back mountain cowboys to sneak in the playoffs and accidently win a game so they have to come to lambeau and get destroyed

haha Opie,
I enjoy reading your posts on this board usually, seem to be one of the more informed $$ members of this board. And the Dallas defense usually blitzes the Giants like crazy. Just hope it's a close game.

No matter the team it's always the QB and the coach when things are not going well. It's the way it has always been and it's still the two most glamourous positions in football.

It's just one game, but everyone who keeps saying Eli isn't legit, keep talking while his stats and play keep saying otherwise. Chris Colinsworth himself said Eli is carrying his team this season.

Are we talking career, performance this season, expected performance next season. These ratings are tough. If we're just judging season performance to date, I'm going:
1. Rodgers
2. Brees
3. Brady
4. Ben
5. Eli
Schaub and Cutler could have made the cut, but are eliminated by injury.
