Very good. When handicapping horse races the first thing I do is locate the frontrunners in the race. I divide the closers into two groups / Stalkers and late runners. Then I try to see how the race pattern sets up. For anyone new to this game I would suggest trying these methods. One of the best bets in horse racing is a lone frontrunner running on a speed favoring surface. Another situation I like is when you see a stalker who can sit behind a group of speed burners and get first jump on the late closers. A textbook example of this was Heatseeker's win in this years Santa Anita handicap.
Keep the videos rolling along Dave!

I'm there all the time Dave, Santa Anita meet and Oak Tree, love the track and love the standard of racing. I've tried to get the same vibe about Hollywood park but I just can't do it, those two tracks are like chalk and cheese. Anytime you're headed down to Arcaida PM me or post a thread on here, I'm always up for Santa Anita and one of the biggest sporting events of the year for me is the Breeders Cup, the euros have got some ammo this year, I'm making New Approach at 10-1 in the Breeders Cup Turf my bet of the YEAR! Should be good, you going?

Track is a great place to have fun and lose money, but rest assured it is a -EV betting opportunity, 20% vig should be illegal

I don't disagree but it is what it is, just gotta live with it. Having been round gambling for most of my life, in my opinion the atmosphere at a busy racetrack is the best gambling atmosphere there is.

Can't wait for the horses to come back to Santa Anita and Hollywood Park... SA is about a 40 min trip for me, Hollywood Park is a mere 15 mins away (I worked in the Casino at one point actually).
Del Mar at an hour and a half away is just too damn far with gas and money being what it is today.

Del Mar is probably worth the drive. I'm about an hour from Santa Anita, I love everything about that track, I love the christmas meet that starts on the 26th, always a good card. I can't wait for the Breeders, it looks really deep and if Big Brown can get there that'll give it the publicity push it needs. Should be the best in years, I'll pm you nearer the time, we'll have a beer.

The Breeders will be S - I - C - K... thats the kind of racing that you don't even need to bet on to enjoy.
Del Mar is worth the drive, just sucks on a limited bankroll to drive out there and lose. Its a looooong drive home.
