"Magic" dude, magic. That race & the relay earlier in the Olympics might have been the two most exciting sports moments I've seen in a long, long time. Fun to be alive ... except I didn't make any money on it.

I love the swimming and track. Get 8 people together and tell them its every man for themself, best man wins. You cant help but root for these people who train so hard and do things i could never dream of doing. I can play volleyball, but swim 200 meters or run 100 meters as fast as they can? no way

I don't think alot of the swimming events with Phelps were available - at least at Bookmaker. I think books realized they'd take a beating for anyone who wanted to lay some crazy ass wood. I mean there were obviously these two close races & maybe one other where experts though Phelps was vulnerable, but I mean 5 of 8 where the dude is pretty much a shoe-in ... who wants to lose that ?

I saw some up on Bookmaker, but my account is what i have leftover from college basketball so going all in on Phelps in most of probably would have won me about 12 cents

They should have asian handicap. Wins by 1 sec -200 by 2 sec -110 etc

You wouldn't be up much b/c he's an enormous favorite every race he enters (understandably he is twice as fast as his competition), prolly 1/10 that race, his odds are a joke, like bettin on Secretariat. Pavy actually might be on to something, swim race lines, like Phelps - 2 1/2 secs or something would prolly see alot of action if bookie's could figure out how to handicap swimming

That guy is an idiot. If he taken another stroke the gold was his. Instead it was Phillips who took the extra stroke and won cause of it.

I did see reasonable odds on him. Was only like -210 to win this event.

Oops Phelps. I spelled it correctly but my iPhones spellcheck automatically switches words. It even changed "on" to "in" because no such word in the English vocabulary. . I hate my damn iPhone.

Phelps was a 3-1 favorite. I am not infinitely confident that this won't become a bit of a scandal. Not sure he "won", looked like the other guy still tagged the wall a hair before Phelps did.

I don't get how you can have 8 different golds for swimming anyway. All this talk of being the greatest olympian, that would be Usain Bolt if the 100m had the 100m free, the 100m walking like a frog and 100m crawling on your back etc

Phelps does go different distances and styles, would be like a track guy winning:

100m
100m hurdles
100m relay
200m
400m
400m hurdles
400m relay

of course running is a more legitimate sport so more people try but still impressive
