That's bullshit. I've gotten in on lines early in the am at +1 or 2 or what have you only to see the line shift to minus whatever you want to call it. I would never middle that. I have the clear favorite plus points and I'm going to middle it with the dog now? I already was confident in my dog to win outright and then watch the line swing my way and middle it?

If I were ever to middle it then it would never be for the same amount as my original bet. You can try to hedge it for a portion of your bet but never for the full amount. Or that basically says you had no idea what you're doing when you capped the game or you admit you were wrong about the game and completely hedged. I got the line at +1 and changed to -2.5 or 3.5 then I know I'm good and I'll let that bitch ride. Worst case a hedge for half if I felt that I made a mistake (which this would not be one of those cases)

That is why no sharp college hoops gambler would ever do it.

A team down 2 with less than a minute remaining is going to start fouling---and when it becomes a 2 possession game, they begin launching 3's----and missing---and fouling.

PRX sports looked at that very scenario the last 2 years, and they proved beyond any doubt such a move is dumb.

i actually tried to middle the byu/florida tourney game earlier this year....dunno if it was technically a middle...since i played the fla ml big...and byu +2.5 big...but it almost worked

game played out just like i had imagined...game tied...fla ball holding for last shot....chandler parsons missed a jumper at the buzzer...went to OT and fla hit a bunch of free throws in OT....i was pretty pissed that fla didnt run something for boynton or walker off the dribble and instead went to parsons ......was so close....it was then though i realized the dream of even middling something like that is near impossible...in the end i lost a few bucks in juice there....so no biggie
