    Attention Posters
Recently we've had an individual going around trying to make wagers with posters via e-mail, and telling the posters they got a-mail addresses from SBR. That, of course, is total BS. The only way someone can get your e-mail info through SBR is if you give it to them.

My advice to start with is to NEVER make a wager with an individual on the internet. If someone does approach you via e-mail or PM attempting to get some action going, please forward those e-mails and PMs to me.

Who might it be? Could be anyone. Who was it? Not real sure as they contacted the player via e-mail saying they got the address from SBR. The address they gave to the player did not match any SBR poster's e-mail address.

Willie, it sounds like we may have someone working at one of the books that we signed up for the contests and poker tourneys, passing on some private info. No proof, just a thought. Ever since I registered at a few books to participate in the tourneys, I have been bombarded with offers in the mail, and get a ton of toll free calls on my phone.

                          My two cents

PS....they looking to wager heads up? Or are they looking to take their action?

So a guy wanted to bet a couple bucks with another poster with no juice and easier and instant free payouts, I mean seriously is this the end of the world?

What was contradicting about the two quotes you put up, Data? This really isn't that tough of a deal, or shouldn't be. Fact: An SBR poster is contacted via e-mail by a person saying he or she got their contact information from SBR. Fact: Individual challenges poster to some head-to-head wagering. Fact: Individual loses wagers, then disappears.

Is there anything 'self-contradicting' about those facts to anyone else?

                                      Many-to-one vs. one-to-many.

This is the third variant that is likely the real one. Please notice, it contradicts with the first two. Again, I do not think it is appropriate for you to be this much misleading while talking about these matters.

That aside, if you are concern about these matters then here is something for you to check. If a scammer sends emails to xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, and xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, how many SBR posters he is going to reach that way?

Data, we've had several complaints by posters who feel that others are getting contact info from us; the latest single case was the cause for me to start this thread. I apologize if that confused you in any way.

As for the other bit, perhaps you've got experience with that, so you tell me. As you can see, I've edited that info out. If we had a bunch (i.e., more than one, less than a bazillion) posters say they'd been contacted at the same time, well, we'd try to address that at that time.

The best way to combat the scammers is by spreading awareness of their methods and by educating the public on the steps to take that those methods would fail.

I was trying to make people aware of something that can be used by the scammers against them. You decided to hide it as if it was something that could help the scammers. I strongly disagree with your actions. I do believe that you mean well but what you are doing helps the scammers, not the posters. You have to think this over.
