    n00b question
new to this, college student, been paying my rent betting and playing poker

Can someone explain to me the standard percentage breakdown of public money versus sharp/professional money on a given game? Does it differ substantially game to game?

Does Vegas really make lines according to what they think will bring in a 50/50 split in terms of bets? is this more catered to sharp money or the public's perception of teams?

Ex. Are the lines in primetime/nationally televised games or games featuring popular teams more catered to public perception/opinion of teams since they will be receiving a greater volume of bets?

Or is the professional money so much greater than the public's that the lines are created solely for them? Meaning more or less, Vegas is in fact predicting how much a team will win by and not aiming to create a "50/50 split." But, I guess they still are since they are looking for a split from the sharp gamblers? Hmmm

Think this will help a lot, thanks boys
