Rules on action points in NFL
I am looking at wagering on action points for the upcoming season, and need to clarify the rules . I need to clarify the rules for what happens when the spread isn't -110 on both sides like often around the number 3.

    Let's say you have Team A +3 -130 and Team B -3 +110.

What happens if you bet $100 a point on team B and they win by 7, so you win by 4 points. What is the payoff on this scenario? What is the payoff if team B loses by 3, so you lose by 6 points? And what would the payouts be for team A with the same game outcomes, namely winning by 6 points or losing by 4?

Is there a standard way this type of scenario is graded by every book, or would each have their own rules?

Here is what Wsex has posted on this subject sir.

    Action-Points Rules

An Action Points wager allows a player to place a bet on how many points his/her selected team will beat the spread by, up to a set cap. You can choose your own cap of between 1 and 15 points on pro football games. You can also choose how much you wish to bet per action point. When you place an action-point wager, no money is deducted from your account, but your maximum potential loss amount is restricted from your account until the game is final.

You win the dollar amount wagered for each point by which the team covers, up to the selected cap. You lose 1.1 x (dollar amount wagered) for each point by which your team does not cover, up to the selected cap. A typical payoff chart is shown below.

Team A is -7; you choose a cap of 10 points; the wager amount is $10 per point; the amount restricted is $110.
    Team A Wins By 1 2 3 4 5 6
    You Win/Lose -$66 -$55 -$44 -$33 -$22 -$11
    Team A Wins By 7 8 9 10 11 12
    You Win/Lose $0 +$10 +$20 +$30 +$40 +$50

As can be seen from the top chart, if Team A wins by 17 you still only win $100 due to the cap. On the other hand, as shown in the bottom chart, if Team A loses by 3 you still only lose $110.

thanks BBD, but that is only the rules for standard spreads with -110 on each side. My question is really whether it makes a difference if there is a moneyline attached to the spread other than -110, such as -3 +110 / +3 -130. Or is the moneyline on the spread ignored for purposes of this bet?

        Iget,

I have seen it two ways.....

Most places, the money line is ignored, and the points are assesed -110 against and +100 for.

I have also seen it where the first point is taxed at -130, and every subsequent point is -110 (the opposite would be the first point is credited +110, and every subsequent point is credited +100 up to the cap)
