Currently use a PC, thinking of buying a Mac soon. PC I use now is 15", wondering if I downgrade if it will bother me. Anyone use one?

#5Mac are worthless and overpriced. Ive owned both and see no reason for the price double. And dont throw out the " a mac dosent get viruses " bullshit. If you cant rid any virus in 30 minutes using system restore, You dont deserve to own a pc. Only reason to buy a mac is for extreme gaming graphics or designing software. Macs are still uncompatible with just about all 3rd party software and any software you currently earn youll have to repurchase for a mac.Comment -

#6There is no decision here, Deuce. Mac is the only way to go. You know godd*amn well you won't be happy with anything else. I could go on and on listing all of the advantages of a Mac over a PC, but you already know what these are. As far as software not running on the Mac....the only thing I've found which is not compatible is some hardcore CAD Design software. This is not something you will ever run into given your current or future career choices.
Now....I want you to buy the Mac, enjoy it, and quit being such a drama queen.

#8I got the 13.3" MacBook Air a couple weeks ago. It is perfect in every way, but I use it mainly for classes so I like how small it is but at the same time the screen resolution is amazing. Just go to your local Mac store or Best Buy and play around with them.Comment -

#22Exactly. Unless you work in an industry where a Mac is essential, you're paying a lot of extra cash for nothing useful to the average user. That being said, I still have two Macs and love them. I also have had 3 or 4 Macs completely fry on me. I bought my first PC laptop 2mths ago and it kicks ass too. First time I've used a PC in over 10yrs. I would've had to spend an extra $1k plus to get the same memory, screen size, etc on a Mac.Originally posted by ttrace35

Deuce, 13" is tiny but you'll get used to it after a day or two. I've never owned one that small but have checked them out several times at the store. Don't blow the cash on a Mac unless you just feel like treating yourself though or you think you're going to need it for something Mac specific.

trigger how is a mac anymore useless than a pc to the average person? most people get on the internet and that's about it. Now if you are actually going to use either one of the two to do something with the pc you are going to have to spend money on the software to do it. those 60 day trials want get you very far in the pc world. you will get nickel and dimed to death having to buy software for a pc if you actually want to do something with it.Comment -

#33The only benefit of a MAC over a PC is you have to use your brain on a PC. Mac's are good because they use Unix as the backbone. Which means you can aimlessly stumble on a virus or malware page and do no harm. The downside is? You're a complete moron when you do the same thing on a PC without protection and cry, "Well, i can do that on a Mac and not worry.".Originally posted by opie1988There is no decision here, Deuce. Aside from that. There is no benefit in having an over-priced, status symbol.
13" is going to be a downgrade if you're using something bigger. If it doesn't bother you, go for it. it's not that small.

OH GOD ttrace. Do not buy an HP. Ever. They have horrible build and quality control. Ontop of many other reasons. Beats audio? really? Gimmick. Worthless, junk. Don't let the hype consume you.
Common misconception. Macs run Intel. Most of them. A PC can do the same thing. Run Pro-tools? A field dominated by macs. Check. Run Video editing software? check. Photoshop? Check.Originally posted by shari91Exactly. Unless you work in an industry where a Mac is essential, you're paying a lot of extra cash for nothing useful to the average user.

macbook pro. macs have been proven to be more reliable than pc's. like one other poster stated mac's do a better job of fighting virus's and defending your computer. No need to buy a virus protection software every year like Norton or McAfee. Software and software upgrades with the mac are a lot cheaper than windows based stuffed. Upgrade to OS X Lion this year was $30 bucks.
Trigger I have had Dell, Sony, HP, and Toshiba none of them has been a durable than the mac I have. Not one crash or virus since I have had it (little over one year.)Comment -

#35This is false information. Yes. A PC is prone to BSOD but with Windows 7 and even XP that occurrence is so rare. Since MAC OSX runs a version of UNIX this is why you don't get virus or the really serious ones. Because programming virus to infect unix would be a colossal waste of time.Originally posted by doublej95macbook pro. macs have been proven to be more reliable than pc's. like one other poster stated mac's do a better job of fighting virus's and defending your computer. Please. A Windows PC is no less stable than a Mac. I've seen this arguement from mac users who switched from pc all the time and it makes me wonder if they really knew what they were doing. Out of my 18 years on a windows PC. I've never had a virus and i've only a couplel of BSODs. Stable? Check.
Also, if you dont visit shady sites, you dont need anti-virus.Comment
