I wouldn't say alcohol is a less expensive addiction by any means...at least it wasn't for me...legal expenses, lost a 85k a yr job, 14k to rehab, losing 10x the normal betting amount due to be intoxicated, broken this broken that, etc...I would never recommend to anyone to become an alcoholic...

if you're serious and you really want to quit then the best thing to do is to quit. Stop drinking and stop focusing on sports. Ignore ESPN and the scores of any games. Just focus all of your energy on being sober and free from addiction. It is not easy and you will encounter a million obstacles that will make you want to drink and gamble, but you're the only person who can control what you do with your life. Find a hobby that you enjoy and let it consume you. Just make sure it is healthy for your future. Everyone here has a problem with addiction in one form or another. It's just a nasty disease that we are afflicted with.
