When Orton played for chicago, he was horrible.. why would they want him back?? The news stories make it sound like it is a good opportunity for the Bears now that Cutler is hurt, but the fact of the matter is he lost favor at Denver.. and Denver doesn't want him either.

what you need to understand is that john fox is a dumb bastard. it's almost as if he is poison for quarterbacks, and like he deliberately undermines any team he's with. Looks like matt moore in Miami is just now coming out of his fox induced shittiness, and it's taken years to shake it off!

Seems they want him, but they are in the back. 29 teams have a chance to claim ahead of them. But maybe Orton has let those teams know he isn't interested. The Bears probably won't claim him either, because SF/GB will not, and that would put them on the hook for his full $2.5 mil due. Once he clears, they can then sign him as a free agent presumably for the league minimum. Should be done by the end of the day. He's coming in as a backup though. Hanie is the starter while Cutler is out.

Yeah, exactly. Clearly they need to get someone(a veteran) in place to step in if Hanie goes down. Orton has more experience than anyone else available. The other options would be Josh McCown or JT O'Sullivan, who both have experience with Martz, but are not as experienced or good overall as Orton.
