Bama will be a small chalk, 3 or less. And I think they'll win as well. Very tough to beat a great team twice in one season, especially one as well coached as Bama is. Had they not won the first game I'd give LSU more of a chance in the rematch, as is Alabama takes this one IMO.
I make the total 37.

Bama was a 4.5-5 point favorite at home against the #1 team the nation. Now the #1 team in the nation has its starting qb back and has not lost a bowl game in new Orleans in the last decade including two national championships? Yes lsu -5.5 seems about right, plus bama hasn't played well since that game.

I don't think being in new orleans is a factor. That's only a four hour drive from Bamas campus. Bama will be a slight favorite.

Ask Oklahoma, Ohio State, and Notre Dame if LSU playing in New Orleans is a factor. Or better yet ask any team that played against Bama in Legion Field in years past is it a factor, that was Bama's de facto home field and led to them winnning the first SEC championship game against Florida. UNC and Duke playing in Greensboro, Kansas playing in Kemper arena, I could go on and on, but there is something there. You can minimize it, but it would be foolish.

This will be the perception of 90% of bettors but Alabama will not be at home this time. In the dome in New Orleans I will likely lay down a significant amount on LSU to leave no doubt about who is the better team.

It will never happen. You have to win your conference to play for BCSNC

alabama's 2nd largest city is closer to new orleans than most of the state of louisiana. I think people are overplayibg that angle. this isn't like Oklahoma or Ohio state having to fly in.

Uh, no you don't. Oklahoma didn't in 03.
Straight from the BCS:
1. The top two teams in the final BCS Standings will be placed in the National Championship Game ("NCG").
Says nothing about winning the conference.
