But this year... I think it is fair to say they have 4 of the best 5 teams in college football.

I wouldn't want to see Arkansas, Georgia, LSU, or Alabama on the other side of the field.

This pains me to say actually.

I agree with you on LSU and Alabama. I am not sold yet on GA. And going back and fourth on Arkansas. they are def. all in the top of the sport. GA had trouble today putting out Kentucky. I was all over kentucky + points today.

SEC I agree though is just so much faster, then the big 10 big 12, pac 12. The defenses are what makes the difference. The reason there are almost never any great passing qbs, is the defenses are so f'ing great.

I'm not a big believer of those teams to be honest. None of them play defense.

USC lost big at Arizona State. If they run into a good defense, they're screwed because their D can't hold up.

To sum it up, the SEC is the only conference that has the talent and the defensive coaches/schemes to compete.

The Pac 12 has the talent, but not the defense. The Big 12 has the talent but not the defense.

The Big 10 has the defense but not the talent.

Sharp post. This conference is scary good. They got the defending (and current) national champ in Auburn. They got clearly the best two teams in the nation this year in LSU and Alabama. And IMO Arkansas is easily the 3rd best team, their only loss is to Bama. Not sure about Georgia but most certainly they would compete to win any other conference they were in other than the SEC.

The defense is the difference. You're playing pretty close to NFL caliber defenses in the SEC. They are big, fast and strong. LSU for example doesn't only have two starting corners that can play in the NFL, these two can be shut down type of corners, some of the best around. You can do a lot of things with your defense when you can play both corners man to man all game long.

South Carolina is way better than Georgia even without Lattimore

Yeah I'm an SEC homer but wouldn't put Georgia as a top 5 team. Not sure SC is way better but they did beat Georgia (45-42) early this year.

While Georgia has definitely gotten better, they have beaten NOBODY this year. As an SC alum, I'm glad they get to represent the east so they can get destroyed by LSU, which will just drop them in the polls and put them below SC in the SEC standings, which will just benefit Carolina when it comes time for bowl selections.

Besides that I think LSU and Bama are the two best teams in the country and more than likely will play for the championship, with Bama winning it all.

Also, I may be biased but I'm so glad Clemson got exposed for what they really are. After close calls with 2-8 Maryland, Wake Forrest, and WOFFORD, I'm glad they finally showed just how much of a pretender they really were. Same goes for all the top 10 teams that lost this week. None of them would stand a chance against LSU or Alabama.
