I fail to understand it. Games are won or lost every year with kicking, and yet, most teams take whoever shows up for tryouts.

Vanderbilt's kicker has potentially lost them 3 games this year. Just think how they feel. They could have actually had an 8-3 record at this point if their kicker would do his job. He's the main reason Arkansas is still in the Top 10.

Every school should be given a plus one scholly just for kickers. Spurrier started this mess back in the early 90' thinking he could just outscore everyone and use that kicker scholly on a fast receiver or scatback. Bit him in the ass more than he cares to admit. Only one national championship because of that mentality. Urban Meyer focused on defense and special teams and won two.

Its almost impossible to make it to the NFL as a kicker. Tough position to play.

There is only about 1 or 2 kickers drafted a year, and even less punters.

Still can not get over the Steelers using a 2nd round pk on a punter, Supulveda.

The punter for LSU will make a million dollars on his first contract. The guy can kick it 60 yards downfield into a cup.
