Good hire. Everyone always wants to hire old retread names. Sveum's got plenty of experience, but still young and hungry and ready. Plus he's got experience in the division and against one of the Cubs rivals. More of an offensive guy though, so he needs a good pitching coach.

Theo said specifically that he wanted somebody with MLB managerial experience. Sveum barely qualifies.

As a Brewer fan I am happy for Sveum but not looking forward to playing against him. Good hire by the Cubs.

Would have been happier seeing the Cubs hire Sandburg

He said managerial OR coaching experience at the major league level. Sveum has plenty of coaching experience (7 years) at the major league level.

Nah, would have felt good, but it would have been a mistake.

How was his relationship with Prince Fielder? Now that Pujols got a mega offer from the Marlins, I see the Cubs going after Fielder.

I suspect they won't, unless he doesn't get huge offers. I think the Cubs want to spend money on pitching and defense, and will just re-sign Pena.
