You are doing a great job. I've been wanting to get into horse racing and thus looking at few systems. However, with your videos that explain I'm finding the videos to be very useful. PLEASE KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

Hey usc, great work on the vids. Personally I don't have a lot of interest in betting horses but if I did these videos would be a great place to start learning.

nice vid Dave.I dont think the Beyer figs are accurate for the new synthetic surfaces that we are seeing in SCal.I think they are coming up with the figs different then they use to for dirt tracks.Do you make your own figs?If so you might do a vid on how to make a track variant and make your own figs.

why make your own figs? This isn't 1984, there are plenty to chose from. But beyer numbers are not all fact, they are largely opinion based and I don't use them.

Because your own figs would be speed and track variant not opinion based and you would know that your own would be accurate.

Perfectly valid points.
I agree that Beyer Speeds are not the gospel, nor are they perfect. They are a perfect starting place for handicapping a race in my opinion though. As I get deeper into the series I'll try my best to explain how some Beyers get inflated by things like perfect trips/pace and others are fluky due to track conditions/stumbling out of the gate/etc.
This is the wonderful thing about horse racing. There is no one right way to do it. You can be a speed capper, a human connection capper, pace, track biases, etc. Or you can mix and match. I just hope by the end of the series everyone at least knows what most of these angles are; they can study and try the ones they like and develop their own styles.

Would absolutely love to, but I don't have the time and much more importantly the money to do this. I'd love to go every day, note track biases, make my own figures, watch training runs in person, watch videos of past races, etc.
As of right now though, I'm just a 22 year old with barely any money in my bank account. My love of the sport sadly is limited only to the occassional trip these days.

all you need to do is save the result charts for a meet wich the next Santa Anita meet would be a good start because of the new surface they are puting in now.You can watch replays on calracing.com for free.

Appreciate this... thank you.
Doubt it will turn many people without interest into people with interest, but it will hopefully sharpen recreational player's games.

I like the video dave.keep up the great work.andrew beyer is probably one of the best if not the best writer in horse hadicapping today.you could learn more from reading his books than anybody out there.its worth taking a subscription to the washington post just to read him.my first wagers at the tracks were out here in dc and he is a must read out here.
dont worry about the pronunciation, this is a primer that could be a great beginning for someone new to racing and would really be a great benefit when you get a site up.
the pronunciation stuff happens when you are a voracious reader,I do it all the time.Doesn't matter as long as you understand beyer speeds It will be fun to watch Commentator at the breeders cup this year at santa anita, never seen figures like this for any horse
great job dave and ignore the negative comments like the shit about the infomercial.horse racing fans ,like most gamblers in general, can be some of the most negative and bitter pricks you ever want to meet.you are doing a great job
just live at the track,go to del mar and santa anita as much as you can ,read the drf and read beyers books
cheers

Thanks again jgm!!!
I agree with you 100%... my game improved 10fold after reading Beyer's book "Beyer on Speed", which I'll be plugging in the final episode.
Also am stoked to see Commentator as well. Me and my bro watched that "win and your in" race live on TVG... the ease in which he went wire to wire was very impressive.
