ok hernandez has an eage in the era...but theres a reason why hes 7-7 with a 3 era...he'd be 14-2 if he played on the rays ...the M's hold the worst record in the A.L why are they favored over the best record in baseball ?

One thing going in the favor of the M's and Hernandez, is that he's 3-0 at home against the Rays, with a 2.90 era overall, and he usually pitches within 7-8 full innings against Tampa.

However, this season he has a WHIP of over 1.80. Putting those athletic Rays on the basepads could definitely be dangerous.

Two things to consider. Rays flew for a cross country flight and they will be playing past their bed time when game is towards the end. Sonnestine is the worse Rays pitcher, Hernandez is the best Mariners pitcher. Why do you think they paired Sonnestine with Hernandez. Because they know they will most likely lose.
