Women tennis players should get more $$$ than men

Like basketball, golf, and all other sports like that, if they want to act like they are just as good, they can compete against the men. WOMEN AREN'T ATHLETES. Plain and simple. A very good high school boys player that has no chance at the pros would destroy the majority of the top women professionals.

The only thing that makes the girls game more appealing right now is to the casual fan, theyare only watching Wimbleton and US Open which are Grand Slams. They get bored with the mens because theyare best3 out of 5 sets usually without alot of breaks while a girl goes out there and is on tyhe court for 45 minutes because they only play best 2 out of 3.

Girls like to try to act like they are equal and all of that. But they want to have it both ways. They want to be their own person and individual and act like they are something, but then they'll turn right around and want some special exemption to play in a tournament just because they are a girl when a guy that is 10 times better than the girl doesn't get in.

If God wanted women to play sports, he would have made them men.

I agree with you almost in full, Mudcat.

I would counter that the men play a much higher level of tennis than do the women, and that is probably why they keep giving them the larger amounts of money.

On the flip side, the money comes from marketing dollars and since more people supposedly tune in to see the women, then that should bolster their argument.

The people that should ultimately decide it are the marketing people who should pressure the committees to payout in a more equitable manner if that is their desire.

You know what? I'm thinking they should get more scratch than men. I'll tell you why.

They're the better draw. I'm only a peripheral observer - so maybe I'm a bad gauge - but when I look back at tennis for the last 5-10 years, I have a lot more memories about things happening on the women's side than the men's.

To me, men's tennis is like white bread soaked in milk. The women have some characters and storylines.

The argument that men deserve more money because they play more sets is silly to me. It's like saying 10K runners deserve more money than sprinters. If anything, men's matches are too long and the women have it right. Who's got time to watch a 4.5 hour tennis match?

The actual skill level shouldn't even be a factor in prize money. That's like saying the networks should pay more for CBA games than the NCAA tournament.

Nah, I don't look my best with a towell wrapped around my head. But, I'm sure I'd still look better than everyone else over in that pathetic country that should have neen blown off the map years ago.

I am in my own political party. I have views and beleifs most others aren't smart enough to grasp. With me in charge, this country would be a better place. But there is no negotiating, I am the dictator. Thats the way it's meant to be anyway. Yeah, we really have a democracy right now. Don't we.

Why don't you outline what your vision is for America....i am sure all are curious. Talk to us about some basic things you would do if you ran this country....talk about things like health care, terrorism, immigration, sex roles, the econmony, outsourcing, foreign policy, the military, what you would do with all those liberals who make this country worse and worse each day, etc...

i've been having a tough day and need a good laugh

by the way, people in Saudia Arabia don't wear towels over there head you are thinking of a different group of people but how should we expect you to know such big differences

the reason most people don't have your views and beliefs is b/c they have higher education level than you...that is, as education increases conservative beliefs and attitudes decrease. Basically you are admitting to remedial education to hold such views...check it out, it is one of the most well documented findings in political science research literature.

this is simple, if they draw more fans and generate more or equal revenue they should be paid equally. If this is the case in tennis it would be the only sport they do this...............or is mud wrestling considered a sport

Hey, if there is one sport where women deserve to make more than men it would have to be tennis. The little tennis I watch is 90% women. I really don't care about the two or three hit rallies on the men's side.

I think women tennis players should get more if they are contracted to provide more 'intimate' photographs for the programmes.

I would agree that women's tennis was more interesting for a brief period in the late 90's-early 00's. Once Hingis got injured, Kournikova gave up, and the Williams' sisters became fashion designers, it became quite boring.

Men's tennis is much more interesting now. Federer, Nadal, Roddick & Blake are all thrilling to watch. Can Agassi dig even deeper for one last run?

Name one exciting player on the women's side. Sharapova? <<yawn>> Davenport? Right. The Belgians? Not quite.
