Posts can be edited for up to 24 hours by all users that aren't restricted from PMs.
I agree that it's not necessary to have for that long of a time-frame, and is more often subject to abuse than it is to correct a typo but doing it any other way would receive more complaints than Sportsbook.com does.

its necessary to be able to edit posts. we need to be able to correct our mistakes, or else morons will grasp on a small spelling error as justification to disregard the point of the whole post

Agreed.
Post editing should only be allowed for up to 15 minutes after that post. People who edit posts, read what they've just written and realize a mistake and correct it right away OR It's people that post something before the game, then go back 2-3 hours later and edit that post, hoping no one realizes it.
Either way, if it's possible to bump that time-frame down, that'd be neat.
