the first game that i can remember that had me just clued to my tv was Metroid on the original NES system. i also played alot of Donkey Kong ,Pac-man, Burgertime, Moon Patrol, Q-Bert and others on my Colego and Atari 2600.
Oh i remember playing Empire Strikes Back on my Atari , i was hooked on that for awhile.

and when i got my Ps1 , Resident Evil consumed alot of late nights.

i had never got into RPGs, an old friend had bought FF VII because some kid who lived next door to him said it was cool, he said he couldn't figure it out and gave it to me, i got hooked on trying to beat that game and finally did after about 2 months, i never beat it at like 200% or whatever it went to. i never did breed that certain color coco bird thing that would take me all over the map and get extra stuff, but i did beat the game.
I ended up buying VIII, but never did beat it, it's been a while, along while since i played it, i think i was at some big town square and there was a parade and i was supposed to snipe off some queen in a parade at the top of a tower or bridge, i don't remeber , i gave up.

Haha, yeah, I did it all... except for beating Ruby Weapon, the ridiculously hard secret boss. Later at USC me and my roomie cracked it out and leveled up to maximum level and kicked the shit out of it. That was fun.

FF8 was nowhere near as good as FF7, and it was much trickier to get the hang of. Years later, after beating FF9, FF10, and FF10-2, I felt stupid not having beaten 8. Went back and beat it and enjoyed it thoroughly... but I don't blame you, it wasn't an easy one to get through.

I had the GREAT fortune of playing Wild ARMS and Suikoden right after FF7... start off with three of the greatest RPGs ever and you aren't ever leaving the genre.
