    NBAPA about ready to collapse
It was inevitable from the start since the players were playing a game they could not win and the Owners had all the leverage and the bankroll to sit out the entire season if necessary( see Chris Rock's Rich vs Wealthy).

Lately theirs been talk that the players were ready to cave in about just a week away from the start of the season. The owners are getting just about whatever they want in the negotiation process and a group of 50 players have been actively speaking with a lawyer to decertify from the union. Isnt this suicide? If they do this all outstanding contracts will be void and the players will lose any leverage they had. Every system issue including a hard cap will happen if the players decertify.

    Thoughts on decertification?

Decertifying voids all guaranteed monies on current contracts. Its not pretty for the players.

Decertification is a desperation move on part of the players in an attempt to create pseudo-leverage. It would allow the players to sue the NBA, by saying th NBA is not negotiating in good faith. Agents, who have pushed for this during the summer, feel that Stern does not want to take this to court. Furthermore, they feel the NBA would strike a deal in order to avoid the court system.

Players have nothing, and the splintering in the ranks was predicted by the owners.

The NFL players association did it to pursue lawsuit I believe.

Just do what Cartman did to the hippies and lock them all in a room with some brandy and joints. Give it a few days and we'll be playing ball soon.

Don't care what happens. No season, shortened season... whatever. NBA needs a lot of tweaks all around, from salary caps and contracts, the quality of refs... stupid ass old rules that need to be abolished or changed due to how the game has changed. Teams have no real reason to give full effort for every game for basically half the season or more... they take nights off... etc and it hurts the game.

Football tweaked schedules so teams play divisional games to end the season, thereby helping to curtail the end of season games where teams have locked everything up and play backups (Colts have done this)

The NBA needs a lot of changes to go back to being a league that is popular and makes money for all teams. No more super teams its a load of shit.

Players fouling out after 6 fouls... so u pay out the ass for a decent seat and ur all ready to see ________ play, he is your favorite player... the refs give your dude two weak foul calls in the first minute of the 1st quarter and there he goes... to rot on the bench. Now you get to see all the shitty backups play more than the stars!

Any fouls after a 6th for a player in a game should result in a technical free throw for the other team... an easy fix, way better than "fouling out". Teams can no longer strategize to attack the other teams star if he has say 3 fouls to start the 3rd quarter... no more BS like that.

I only enjoy the Playoffs and the season has been a non factor to me. Id rather go and watch highlights of MJ on youtube for 2 hours.

I bet a lot of ppl feel the same way... I am not upset that I can't bet on the NBA right now. Its not a big deal. I want the league to make changes and right itself.

What could the players possibly sue for?

Nba wants new salary caps and luxary taxes in place to make the league more competitive.

Players salaries were 2.2 billion and the leagues revenue was only 1.8. I dont see how the court would feel sorrow for the nba offering a 50/50 split.
