half joking half serious. With peyton, they are Super Bowl contenders, without him and the Colts can't win a single game. And all the people that are saying Peyton doesn't play defense. Peyton directly helps out the defense by going on long drives and eating up the clock, so the defense can rest and have more time breaking down the offense. It's also just demoralizing as a defender having to repeatedly go on the field after every 3 and out by Painter knowing you give up 2 scores and the game is pretty much over because the offense is that bad.

They have one super bowl in his tenure. Im not so sure they would have won half their games if he were taking the snaps this season.

They would win the division with him at least.

      Texans being unimpressive per usual.

I wonder if he can seriously be voted for, even though he is an inactive player on the roster. Could be the most monumental event in sports. MVP of the league without playing a snap, LOL.

Might as well give it to Dan Marino. The Dolphins might have a few wins if he hadn't retired!

Agreed Brady out and Cassel goes 10-6
Payton out and Colts go 0-16
Or is this to do more with the coach's and management?

            Colts management should be fired.

There a few things wrong with the Colts besides missing Manning, but I see where you are coming from.

Going back to last season colts had problems winning games even when Manning was at the helm. He finished the season looking terrible, carryover to this season colts issues stem more from missing Manning.

The management surrounded Peyton year-after-year with what he needed on offense at the expense of the defense. To not have a backup plan shows you how Polian and Irsay put all of their eggs in Mannings basket. We'll see when he's due a $28 million dollar bonus in the off-season how much they're attached to him. The Niners, Packers, and now the Colts have seen what happens when you hang on to your legendary QB too long...it can come at the expense of winning or younger players getting a chance. It happened with Montana, Favre, and now Manning. The Question is...is it worth it to be loyal at the expense of winning?

I understand what everyone is saying, but what I am asking, although I was being comical, is.... Is it possible/plausible for Manning to receive votes as an inactive player on a roster? Could this be done? Does anyone actually know the specific rules with this? I know the writers vote, but if given the opportunity, would Manning's name be allowed to be on the ballot? Just curious...

well obviously he shouldn't get anything this year, as he is offering no value to his team. But maybe they should revisit the last few years worth of votes
