Blood Bath @ My Office Today
Lots of people canned. We got bought by a rival company several months ago and this was the fear for lots of people. Somehow, I survived today's cut. Who knows what tomorrow brings. Damn. Trying to get my head on straight to gamble because I need to blow off some steam and maybe try to make some money to guide me into unemployment again. Definitely getting chocolate wasted tonight.

Maybe they're prepping for round 2 tomorrow....today's cut was just to clear the hallways out so the chance of someone going postal would be Day 2 when they get home and have a few hours to stew over what happened

It just feels weird. I've been laid off several times in my life, but I've never been on the "right" side of a layoff in that I made the cut. Definitely have some survivor's guilt today, but at the end of the day I've been on the unemployment line too many times in the past couple years so while I fee bad for my friends today, I'm still glad to be employed for another day.

Work in radio. Unemployment is different in every state I think. I live in TX and they figure out how much you are entitled too based on your income from the past 12 months before you were let go in some complicated formula. They tell you exactly how much you are eligible for an when it will run out. It is not two years to start, usually something like 6-9 months depending on what you made. You do get extensions potentially, but really if you are on it longer than six months you have to start worrying about whether or not you will get an extension, etc. and it's hard to deal with. I was fortunate that last time I was on it, it was only for a few months.
